"Anthony's installed a complete new unit in my house and the technicians, PJ and Ted did an incredible job inside and outside. They were both very courteous and took extra care in protecting my home during the install. They had a minimal area to work inside the house and there was no damage when other companies told me a wall would have to be cut into. I am very happy with my decision to use Anthony's."

"Options explored in detail & selection of unit was made by me. The proposal was sent out after an onsite inspection. Vendor identified that additional ductwork was not needed which another bidder was anxious to replace at a much higher cost. Terms and conditions were agreed upon in writing. Installation was performed the following week and an onsite inspection was made by a reliable source, since I could not do so myself from my home in Illinois. The service met and exceeded my expectations."

"Everything went well... fan motor on old unit went bad, 500 plus service call chg of 98 for a replacement. My unit was 11 y.o.,.. In Florida, figured it was time to replace rather than to put a band aid on it...Salesman came to my home, explained all options. I had 2 other estimates. Chose DAIKIN brand.... ELITE IS A "PRO" DAIKIN INSTALLER....12 yr parts warr, for 600 more, purchased 12 yr labor warr included as well. They came out the next day, did the install, cleaned up, gave me 98 dollar credit for the original service call, transferred UV lights from old unit to new at NC....overall great to deal with..... nice salesman (Kirk), (he deserves a raise) no pressure ...I would highly recommend..."

"New Unit was installed timely per agreement (Wed). The next day (Thurs), the Unit shut down and I was able to restart it by pulling out the Emergency Drain Line shut off float and allowing it to dry off. Friday morning there was a clear "fog like" haze in house, soon after the house started "heating up". The outside Heat Pump was not working, I flipped the breakers but to no avail, Heat Pump remained "dead". Meanwhile the house is getting "hotter", I call Climate Designed (9:20) mentioning the above to "Brenda". Ms. Brenda set up a tech to come inspect the Unit. 2:00 pm the Tech shows up and confirms that the indoor Air Coil leaked out several pounds of freon (410A) and the Heat Pump is designed to shut off when refrigerant is low. The Tech then conveyed that a new air coil was needed and had to be ordered, perhaps installed Monday, "if" there was a "air coil". Furthermore, the Tech could not provide at least a loaner portable AC unit to help cool off the house on the weekend and maybe beyond Monday, due to lack of part availability. Afterward, I had to contact Poison Control due to the inhalation of 410A freon gas that leaked into the house. Everyone at this stage seems ok according to Poison Control. Today, Saturday several unsuccessful attempts to Climate Designed ("CD")executed seeking a loaner Unit, unfortunately, the local Home Depot and Walgreen "AC window units" are all sold out. Ms. Brenda operating the CD telephone lines conveyed that she emailed "Anthony" and other corporate officers of the current situation. No one has reached out nor anticipated. Ty the salesman also erred in the earlier stages of this transaction when he cleared a 1983 Zinsco style breaker box in which he approved that certain amperage breakers would pass inspection and that the "wiring was up to grade". However, on installation day, the Electrician did not like the two (2) breakers and needed those to be replaced (which I have purchased from Amazon [because he did not have the breakers in stock]). Electrician also demanded that a new "run" of wire must be installed with a new gauge wire, running from the indoor handler to the breaker box at the rate of additional $600. In this case CD did the right thing and absorbed the Run into the cost of install, however, Ty the salesman was upset with me for challenging the cost. As of this time, and reviewing other complaints about CD on Angi's List, Ty the salesman declaration that "parts" are always available at their headquarters are inaccurate and goggle search of "Trane Defects" will yield at least one (1) class action suit and numerous complaints about Trane air coils failing due to the use of cheap aluminum , that breakdown over time and leak out freon. As a small business owner myself, with the above mention statement of events, I do not understand why CD does not have a surplus Air Coils in stock, and portable Units to prevent leaving a customer in a "hot house". In addition, "warn" customers of the air coil defect and if a homeowners sees a clear "fog like" haze inside their home......to turn off the Unit and immediately vent out the house with fresh air."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Steam boilers require flushing at least every six to 12 months to keep them operating effectively for as long as possible. Depending on your water quality and frequency of use, you might need to do this more frequently. The flushing process helps to remove problematic buildup of sediments. While a boiler contractor near you can perform a thorough annual flush, learning how to drain the system yourself means you can do this monthly if you experience speedy mineral accumulation because of hard water.

Costs range from $3,000 to $7,500, depending on system size and efficiency.

You can save money on heating oil through a combination of improving home efficiency and smart purchasing strategies.

Home Efficiency and Usage:

  • Improve Insulation: Ensure your home, especially the basement and attic, is well-insulated and sealed against drafts to prevent heat leakage.

  • Manage Your Thermostat: Use a properly calibrated and programmable thermostat. Lower the temperature by a few degrees, particularly when you are away from home or asleep.

Purchasing Strategies:

  • Buy in the Off-Season: Order heating oil during the summer months when prices are generally at their lowest. This strategy is most effective if you have a large primary tank or a separate storage tank to accommodate bulk deliveries.

  • Consider a Delivery Contract: Some companies offer contracts with a set price for the term. This can lead to savings if market prices for oil increase, but you might pay more if prices drop.

You can replace baseboard heaters with many other types of HVAC systems, including forced-air furnaces, hydronic heating, and heat pumps. Each one has its advantages and disadvantages, so the best choice for you will depend on your budget, preferences, and the design of your house. If you aren’t sure which option is right for you, ask an HVAC pro for guidance.

The average cost to replace or install a new HVAC system is around $7,500. However, the price can range from $5,000 to $12,500, depending on factors like the size of your home, the type and brand of the unit, and your specific heating and cooling needs. If you only need to replace certain components, the cost will be lower; for example, a new AC unit can cost between $2,200 and $5,500, while a new furnace costs $3,200 to $6,000. If additional work like new ductwork is required, the total cost could be as high as $22,000. It's best to contact a local HVAC company for an accurate quote.
