"Marku Construction is FANTASTIC! A few years ago we converted our 3 bedroom house into a 2 bedroom. But now, when we want to sell, the realtor convinced us to switch it back. I called Marku Construction and Ari came out the same morning to look at the job. Our timeline was short but he was able to fit us in within a few days. The job entailed removing french doors, rebuilding the wall to split the large room in half, framing/installing two bedroom doors, baseboards, & molding, and painting everything to match! Ari and his crew did an excellent job and for a great price. They were in and out in 2 days and left the job spotless. They even left the place super clean when they were going to be back in the morning. I would recommend Marku Construction for any job they took on. Attention to detail, professionalism, and great communication are just a few of the reasons why. And our realtor is thrilled to have his contact information as well!"

Small jobs welcome

"Mario was a great person to work with. He installed about 400sf of travertine tile for me. It was a 4 size tile pattern that took some effort and a couple mistakes to get right but I couldn't be happier with the end product. He worked exceptionally hard for the value he provided. I will definitely use him again on future projects!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

When working on your bathroom floor tiling, you should always tile the floor first and then refit the toilet afterward. This has both practical and visual advantages—the tile will have a better seal, and the installation will look cleaner.

On the other hand, when you try to cut the tiles to fit around the toilet, you’re putting yourself at a disadvantage. It’s a lot more work, it’s hard to be precise, and mistakes or miscalculations can lead to future moisture damage to the tiling, grout, and subfloor.

Lack of durability is the most significant downside of painting tile. However, a painted tile backsplash doesn't see the same kind of action as, say, painted flooring tiles. For backsplashes, the durability of the finish is crucial because they often require cleaning. However, you can minimize the durability problem by using mild cleaners and water on the painted surfaces.

Here’s another instance of where the answer is you could, but that doesn’t mean you should. Yes, part of the issue is getting the drywall to stay in place on the tiles, and it’s understandable that screws will crack the tiles and cause them to crumble. That’s why it’s a much better idea to screw drywall into studs, not your porcelain or ceramic tile. But aside from issues with attaching the drywall, it’s also about ensuring a smooth application without trapping moisture inside.

Terracotta tile is a broad term for clay tile that’s been fired in a kiln, and Saltillo tile is a specific type of terracotta tile produced in Saltillo, Mexico. In addition to Saltillo, terracotta tile comes in a range of other shades and styles. You’ll often find it used in buildings throughout Mexico, southern Europe, and the western United States.

Travertine is a natural stone, while porcelain is ceramic. You can enjoy the best of both worlds with porcelain travertine tiles. Some people prefer porcelain to travertine because it doesn’t require regular maintenance and it’s easier to clean. Porcelain travertine looks like the real thing but only costs $3 to $6 per square foot.
