"Fast Patch Drywall was incredible from first contact to follow up of making sure I was happy with the work. I've have never seen such customer service since 30 years ago when companies really tried. Fast Patch Drywall tries. Quick responses to questions, accommodating scheduling, such pleasant employees from the home office to the techs. From first contact, I knew that I wanted them to do the work on my home. Can't say how amazing the office personal are. You'll have to experience that yourself. The work itself was so outstanding. This was not an easy job. It was in a space which is so impossible to get into. Dan the tech, how he did it, I have no clue. The wall looks so amazing. I will be recommending Fast Patch Drywall to everyone I know who needs service done. On my short list, I would rehire over and over."

Customers say: Quality work

"Matt and his crew are the best! We had a bathroom leak and there was water damage to the floor, wall, and trim. A significant piece of drywall had to be replaced, and Matt made sure that the texture and paint matched perfectly! You would never know that the leak occurred! Great care was taken on every aspect of the job — all surrounding areas were thoroughly protected, and clean-up was meticulous. Matt’s work erased any doubt that he’s the best option for our future 2nd bathroom remodel project."

"We contacted Jimmy to paint my mother's condo before putting it on the market because we'd used him before at our house, and he did an amazing job. He came for a quote, and we let him know we'd be removing the popcorn ceiling, and he said his company did that too. We hired him for both jobs on the spot, and they did fantastic work. They were quick, and there wasn't a spot or drop out of place. They repaired some places in the ceiling with drywall, they patched a few spots on the walls, and painted the ceiling, the walls, and all the trim for a very reasonable price."

Customers say: Quick response

"So glad I found Lance and Home Pride Painting,Inc.!! Lance came to my home to estimate repair of my “sad” water-damaged ceiling, window trim and wall. He was prompt, professional and listened to what I had to say. He explained the potential for finding structural damage behind the drywall and possible mold contamination, and said we would address as needed. His explanation of the process and materials was very thorough, and the price quoted was fair for the work needed. He emailed his estimate over a weekend and advised he had a schedule opening to get the job done quickly. Sean and Jeremy arrived on time and did a fantastic job preparing the room for the “mess.” They were personable, professional and respectful, setting my expectations for the project. They quickly opened up the ceiling, window trim and wall, showing me there was no mold or structural damage, and they had the old insulation replaced and the new drywall in place and partially finished the first day. The drywall was finished the second day and left to thoroughly dry to be ready for texture and paint, which was completed the third day. I’m amazed and thrilled with the end result!! The ceiling and wall appear seamless—you cannot tell where the patching was done. The ceiling and wall texture are also seamless and the paint blended perfectly. In addition to the excellent result, I couldn’t have asked for a more thorough cleanup, and return of my home to normal. Lance came by to inspect the work and I let him know how pleased I am. I will definitely be calling Lance for ANY future interior or exterior painting projects and I highly recommend Lance and Home Pride Painting, Inc. Lance’s commitment to outstanding customer service and the quality work done by Sean, Jeremy and Lance have made Home Pride Painting, Inc. my only resource for future projects. Hire these guys!!!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Deciding whether to repair or replace drywall can be tricky, but your top considerations should be the extent of the damage and what caused the damage. For instance, if you need to repair a small hole caused by a doorknob that hit the wall, you can safely patch it without a second thought. However, if you have significant drywall damage caused by water damage, it’s best to thoroughly remove the drywall to inspect and repair the pipes behind it before replacing it.

Yes, small, superficial cracks are normal as homes settle. Older homes have a higher chance of showing signs of settling through hairline cracks from temperature changes, moisture changes, and soil shifting. However, larger cracks, or discolored cracks from water damage, may signify a bigger problem that requires reparations and preventative measures.

A utility knife is sharp enough to score the drywall and it may work in a pinch for outlet box holes. However, one of the best tools for drywall when you need to make exact cuts for an outlet box quickly is a drywall saw. This handheld tool has a longer blade than a utility knife, so it penetrates the thickness of the drywall easily. The design of its handle and the teeth in its blade make it easier to control while cutting quicker than you can with a utility knife.

Plastering and skimming are two different techniques for finishing walls. Plastering involves applying a thick layer of a plaster mixture—typically containing gypsum, lime, cement, sand, and water—to create a new surface. This process often requires multiple coats and is used for repairing significant damage or creating decorative textures. Skimming, on the other hand, is a technique that involves applying a thin layer of drywall compound or joint compound over an existing surface to smooth it out, covering minor imperfections, small cracks, or uneven textures for a polished look. Plastering is generally more costly and labor-intensive than skimming. Although some people use the terms interchangeably, they refer to different processes and materials.

Although they are used for similar tasks, spackle and joint compound are not the same. Joint compound, also known as drywall mud, consists of limestone and gypsum and is primarily used for large-scale projects like taping and finishing seams on new drywall. Spackle is composed of gypsum and binding agents, making it a thicker compound best suited for small wall repairs like filling nail holes or cracks, as it dries quickly and is easy to sand. For small repairs, either product can be suitable. However, you can use joint compound for small jobs in place of spackle, but you cannot use spackle for large-scale taping and mudding projects.
