Small jobs welcome

"They are amazing. They came the same day within a few hours of calling them and fixed numerous plumbing items in one visit. The cost of the repairs were very reasonable. In fact, they offered numerous solutions for repairs and explained everything succinctly. Lastly, they cleaned up after themselves and were not only passionate, but also dilligent and professional about their work. Thanks again Anthony and Sindo you two are the dream team!"

"We have not always had good luck when it came to plumbers but can highly recommend Garrett's Plumbing.  We have used this company for a couple of years now for multiple plumbing needs from installing a garbage disposal, clearing drains and working on outdoor plumbing etc. We use them for our rental properties as well as our primary residence.  They have always been professional, reliable, have come on short notice when necessary and have been available for advice on multiple occasions.  If there is a less expensive solution they are quick to tell us.  That kind of advice is rare and well appreciated!  In the years we have used them we had only one small issue and it was fixed immediately with no hassles.  We would recommend them to anyone and will continue to use their services in the future.

Drain Cleaning questions, answered by experts

If you try a drain snake and various DIY methods for unclogging drains to no avail, bring in a professional plumber to assess the situation. Also, if multiple drains in your home are backing up or you smell sewage, a visit from a plumber is best. You can expect your drain cleaning costs to fall around $250, and this can include an assessment of what’s caught in your plumbing and if there’s a larger, underlying problem. You should also consider calling a pro if you need to snake a toilet, as DIYing this could lead to a cracked fixture.

Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.

Septic tanks can clog if they aren’t pumped every few years since solid waste accumulates inside of them. Your tank might also clog if you have a habit of flushing anything other than human waste or toilet paper. Items like diapers, baby wipes, paper towels, cat litter, and personal hygiene products should never go down your pipes.

You should not attempt to snake your sewer yourself. Accessing and snaking your sewer requires heavy-duty equipment, and while renting is possible, misusing it can damage your sewer main and leave you with very expensive repair costs, not to mention potential environmental issues and severe water damage. Accessing your sewer also exposes you to hazardous sewer gasses, and failing to seal the sewer properly after work can be very dangerous. It’s always best to hire a professional sewer cleaner near you to handle this type of work.

In the majority of cases, homeowners insurance will not cover a main sewer line root clog. The reason is that most insurance companies consider tree root damage to sewer lines as common wear and tear, which is also preventable. However, you may be able to buy optional add-on coverage, such as "service line coverage" or "sewer line endorsements," that would protect against root damage to your sewer line.
