"Ed Riley is extremely knowledgeable about what causes lighting and how to protect from it. He explained to me which and how structures develop static electricity that lead to lighting discharges in a way that the physics made sense to me. They were also reasonably priced and kept their word. Definitely recommend them."

"They installed a whole-house generator. Years ago, someone told me The most important part of a home generator is being able to get service They did everything: pulled permits, installed the generator, installed the electrical change over panel, and provide annual preventative maintenance. They are 5 Star!"

"William , the owner contacted me soon after I left a message on his phone. He was very prompt in getting me a quote for lightning rods that same day and happened to be in the area locally. We scheduled for him to install two days later. We were very happy with their work, meticulous and detailed. We canâ t notice any rods from the front of the house and they do their best to hide the cable so you canâ t see it. Our house got hit by lightning a year ago and it is not something I want to go thru again with the rebuilding of our house. We have a peace of mind that our house has protection now. William was very reasonable as far as cost compared to the other quotes that we got from other companies. We are so happy we found a great company that is honest and does good work. His company comes back every five years to check that the rods and cables are in good working order!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

Electrical systems in Old Town need regular care, including monthly GFCI outlet tests and annual panel inspections for corrosion or pest activity. Replace surge protectors every few years due to frequent lightning. Before hurricane season, test generators and secure all outdoor electrical equipment. Clean exterior fixtures regularly to remove salt and debris, and schedule yearly professional inspections to maintain electrical safety in Florida’s demanding environment.

Helpful?

When planning electrical projects in Old Town, factor in hurricane readiness by installing surge protectors and securing outdoor panels. High humidity demands moisture-resistant supplies for long-term reliability. Check local permit requirements before starting work and coordinate with utility providers for service upgrades. Because Old Town is rural, plan ahead for contractor availability and consider backup power solutions to handle extended outages during severe weather.

Helpful?

For electrical work in Old Town, select corrosion-resistant materials, like stainless steel or galvanized fasteners, to withstand the humid climate. Use THWN-2 or XHHW wiring for moisture and heat resistance. For outdoor electrical safety, install weatherproof boxes and UV-rated conduit. Consider whole-home surge protection and generator transfer switches to safeguard against frequent lightning and power interruptions common in north-central Florida.

Helpful?

In Old Town, you’ll find general electrical contractors handling residential and commercial needs, often traveling from nearby areas due to the rural setting. Specialized contractors include generator installation experts, solar energy professionals, smart home system installers, and marine electrical specialists for waterfront properties. Because contractor availability can be limited, it’s wise to schedule projects in advance and seek out those experienced with local electrical safety and storm preparation.

Helpful?

In Old Town, address electrical issues that threaten safety—such as outlets sparking, persistent burning odors, or circuit breakers tripping repeatedly—without delay. After storms or flooding, inspect for water damage, as local humidity can worsen electrical hazards. Upgrades like adding outlets or updating fixtures in low-use areas can be scheduled later. Always prioritize electrical safety and storm preparation, especially during hurricane season in Old Town.
