"I called many plumbers, and to be honest they did not seem to be professional. Some spoke so fast and furious that I could not understand them--or did I want to deal with that initial problem. Eli called me and sounded like a fresh breath of air. He spoke so calmly and sounded so intelligent with a great amount of actual caring in his voice! He explained everything to me in detail, including the prices and what I could expect. He had me at "hello"!!!!! That's why I hired Eli and I sure am glad I did. Competent and quick."

"Florida has underground aquaducts and my mother-in-law had a similar service done on her property years prior (different company). The process went very smoothly and we feel we got a great price, since a neighbor who had had the same job done for him by someone else felt that we got a very good deal."

"Business owner Frank McKinney responded to our phone call within 24 hours. One of his sons came to the house and did some measurements and looked over the job to be done. Then he sat down with us and explained our options and gave us a cost estimate. They were a couple of weeks late getting started but that was due to a very rainy season that set them back. Once the job was started they moved really quickly to get it done. We have a 2 story house. The job took about a week and a half. They had to do a lot of repair work where there was termite damage before they could begin putting on a the metal roof and this took several days. The crew was very professional, cleaning up the job site every day before quitting and not making a mess of the yard. Much of the flashing and trim work around the chimney and attic access had to be custom done. We paid them half to start and the other half when they were finished. Mr. McKinney conferred with us daily to let us know how the job was going and asking us about details we wanted done. The finished roof is beautiful and we have had lots of neighbors stop by to ask us who did the job and compliment on how good it looks. We are definitely pleased and highly recommend this company."

Plumbing questions, answered by experts

Water pressure for residential homes falls between 40 and 60 pounds per square inch (PSI). This range works well for everyday water use in most households. And while some homes have water pressure higher than 60 psi, once the pressure reaches 80 psi or more, it can lead to increased wear and tear on your plumbing system.

Some older homes have toilets in the basement to combat sewage backups. This type of toilet, also known as a Pittsburgh potty, acted as a safety valve over the incoming sewer line. If a line backed up, it would back up into the toilet because it was the lowest fixture in the home, keeping it out of sight and away from the finished areas of the house.

Basement toilets were also used by workers with messy jobs, like those who worked in coal mines or steel mills. This way, they could clean up and avoid tracking dirt through their home.

The hose bib, named because it connects to a garden hose, can also go by many other names. Although they are different, the terms hose bib and spigot are often used interchangeably. Hose bibs may also be called outdoor faucets, outdoor taps, lawn hydrants, the hose valve, or the hose attachment.

Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.

A sewage ejector pump is necessary if you have any plumbing fixtures, such as a bathroom, laundry room, or sink, located below the level of your home's main sewer line. Standard plumbing relies on gravity to drain wastewater and solid waste into the municipal sewer system or a septic tank. For fixtures below this level, like those in a basement, gravity cannot move the waste upward. The ejector pump provides the force needed to pump the sewage up to the main line. Without one, wastewater from below-ground fixtures would back up, potentially causing a sewage overflow and flooding. If all of your plumbing is on the main floor or higher, gravity is sufficient and an ejector pump is not needed.
