"I have used Mid-Florida tree service for years and loved them, but this time I dealt with a new arborist-in-training since the arborist I have always worked with was unavailable. I requested the removal of a low-hanging branch, but, due to a 50/50 misunderstanding, the wrong branch (a cherished, fern-covered, beautiful branch that gave me privacy from the neighbors) was removed. Further, the crew damaged our gate/fence with the truck and left deep ruts in our yard.
Though all these things were distressing, I would not be writing this review except for the arborist's lack of follow-through. The work was done on Monday, and that day, he apologized about the branch, and I told him that, given everything, I thought we were due a partial refund. I planned to use the money to purchase a large staghorn fern or two and heavy-duty hangers to fill the empty spot. He said he'd look into the refund and promised that the fence and ruts would be repaired that week. I never heard back from anyone that week. The next week, after he got my message from the week before, he did send out a man who did an excellent job repairing my fence and gate, and that man left some buckets of dirt for us to fill the ruts ourselves. I spoke with the arborist a second time, and he said he'd look into a partial refund. No one has ever contacted me again.
I am disappointed with the lack of response from Mid-Florida Tree Service.

"The two trees on the side are shade blocking the sun make it difficult for any grass to grow under them. I am changing to a different more shade tolerant grass in Oct or November for that area. I had used them before to trim the trees but I never assume everything as far as licensing is the same. When you are trimming trees overhanging your house you have to be careful. They have an Arborist which is also important. I could not tell you how many people came to do the job with no current license. They left it, could not find it or it had expired. Rebecca gave me hers for her company and I checked and it was valid. She even arranged to do some minor leveling stump grinding to make it easier for the riding mower and for the grass to lie flat when I plant it in the fall and they did not even break any of my inground sprinklers. i even added my 4 palms and my Robellini. TOP CLASS WORK!"

"Everything went very well. They were prompt in providing an estimate, arranging for the permit, setting a date for the work, and showing up to do the work. They were very efficient and knowledgeable in getting the work down. The removal of the one oak was tricky due to the proximity of electrical and communication lines to two houses. The debris was hauled away, the stump ground, and the area cleaned up. If you are looking for quality work at a reasonable cost for the work done, Experience Tree Service is your company. If you are looking for cheap, look elsewhere. There is a reason why cheap is cheap and the probability of receiving substandard quality is pretty high. When dealing with tree work, you better get the best quality you can find. An awful lot can go wrong."

"Austin and his crew (Shane, Franky, and Kenny) were very professional, knowledgeable and so polite. They all worked well together as we had several trees removed and all stumps grinded. The area that we did looks so much better, open and neat. Anyone looking to have trimming or tree removal call Austin he is the best. I would recommend Choppers to anyone, and I will be having them do some additional work at a later date. Also, the pricing is so reasonable. Austin and his crew shows up on time always calls ahead to let you know they are on the way, does the work promised, cleans up and what ever the estimate is that what you pay. It is so refreshing to have a company you hire to do exactly what they say. Choppers is my tree service people for now on."

"Adam and his crew were great. They knew exactly what needed to be done as my trees have gone a few years without trimming. During the job Adam asked me to take a look to make sure it met my satisfaction and even when they were done we did a walk through to make sure it was complete. His crew was very polite and professional. Price was very competitive to other quotes I received."

"Chris, the owner, was gracious, and very knowleadgable - and top-notch experienced in this line of work. He was trustworthy in handling a huge task as ours - we had two very large trees removed by another company , but the entire stumps were not well done. Therefore, we had to hire a proficient master like Chris to tackle the job. This company is "thumbs up" all the way. I am definitely spreading the word that this is the very top best to deal with. Thank you Chris! ---Mrs. B -"

Arborists questions, answered by experts

Generally, homeowners do not need permission to cut down a tree on their own private property, but there are several exceptions where a permit may be required. You might need a permit if the tree is particularly large, old, or a protected species, such as a heritage tree. Trees located near public property or power lines can also be subject to special rules. Additionally, many local governments and homeowners associations (HOAs) have regulations controlling which trees can be removed to manage an area's appearance or prevent the spread of invasive species. To avoid hefty fines, it is crucial to check with your local government and HOA to determine if a permit is needed before you begin.

Late August, September, and mid-October are the ideal months for planting a young tree. However, the best time to plant a tree ultimately depends on when the weather transitions to fall-like conditions and eventually winter frost. As long as the hottest days of summer have passed and the ground hasn’t frozen yet, you can still successfully plant trees.

The exact answer to this question depends on which region of the country you’re talking about, but according to various tree counts, some of the most common types of trees in the United States include red maple, Douglas fir, quaking aspen, loblolly pine, and sweetgum.

Pruning is an effective way to prevent a diseased branch from infecting the rest of the tree. If the infection isn’t caught early enough and the pathogen has spread to the trunk or the majority of the branches though, it is too late to prune off the affected areas and you’ll likely need to remove the tree.

Yes, you can prune a palm tree with a chainsaw, but a chainsaw is overkill for a job like this. You risk damaging the tree if you make a bad cut. More commonly, you’ll need pruning shears or a serrated knife to trim a palm tree, or you can use a specialized pruning saw instead of a chainsaw.
