"Michael did a great job painting the entire interior of the house (walls and ceilings) and even touched up the woodwork though that was not part of the agreement. He also painted the deck. He’s very meticulous and pleasant to work with. I recommend him highly."

"The gentleman who repaired my screens was pleasant, efficient and timely. He also inspected all of the screens in both my front and rear lanais making sure they weren't in need of repair and matched the replacement materials with the existing screens. I feel the price of the services provided was fair."

"I highly recommend Dalton Gibson for any home projects! He is incredibly dependable, skilled, and detail-oriented. He installed my hurricane shutters, put up a new mailbox, and built overhead storage—all done with excellent craftsmanship and efficiency. It’s hard to find someone this reliable and professional. I’ll definitely be calling him for future projects!"

"Wonderful! There was a build up of green mold and moss on screens. The pool deck had years of ground in dirt. All was cleaned to perfection leaving even the deck ready to repaint. Very reasonably priced and very professional."

"Great work and service by the entire RPS team. Communication was excellent from beginning to end. The work done to install a new door knob and repair damage to door caused by emergency entrance was well done and saved several hundred dollars it would have cost to buy a new door and have it installed. I recommend RPS and will use their services for future jobs large and small."

Deck Repair questions, answered by experts

Generally, a patio is more accessible than a standard deck because patios are constructed at ground level. However, decks can be made accessible by adding a wheelchair-accessible ramp, a vertical lift, or a stair lift along the entry. An ADA-compliant deck ramp costs about $3,000 on average. The additional investment will provide a much friendlier experience for your guests with movement impairments.

Composite decking boards aren't your only options for building a deck. There are several other types of materials for decks, including wood and aluminum decking. Wood decking comes in many different wood species, offering natural beauty and classy timelessness to your yard. Aluminum is a lightweight, water-resistant, and low-maintenance material that is also non-slip.

To prepare a deck for a hot tub, start by thinking about safe and easy access in and out of the tub. Homeowners should plan for steps or consider built-in seating, a level surface around the perimeter, and a clear, slip-resistant path from the house. A hot tub requires sufficient space around it for comfortable entry and exit, ensuring no awkward squeezing or stepping over high edges. Good lighting and handrails can also make a big difference, especially for nighttime use.

Materials for a second-story deck must be weather- and rot-resistant, though the specific choices will largely be determined by your budget and style preference. Pressure-treated wood is on the lower end of the price scale, but it can be customized and stained the way you like it. Composite, on the other hand, is pricier for installation and has fewer options for customization, but you’ll save money and time in the long run because it requires little maintenance.

Yes, snow should be removed from a deck to protect it from damage caused by moisture and heavy loads. Shovel the snow off of your deck regularly once it is more than four inches deep. Avoid using salt, which can damage your deck.
