"Service provider called to say when he would arrive. He arrived at that time. He gave me an estimate of the price which was acceptable and specified what he would do and what he could not do (guarantee spots would be removed). He performed the work quickly and efficiently. Finally he said it would take 4 to 6 hours to dry. He mentioned that he went over the heavily used areas again. All spots were removed. The carpet did dry in the time frame he mentioned. I asked if the company did tile also and he gave me an idea of what they charged for that service. All in all he did a good job with minimum fuss and finished in good time (2 hours). I was pleased and would use the company again. I do plan to use the company to clean and seal the tile in the other part of the house at some future time."

"The gentleman who repaired my screens was pleasant, efficient and timely. He also inspected all of the screens in both my front and rear lanais making sure they weren't in need of repair and matched the replacement materials with the existing screens. I feel the price of the services provided was fair."

Central Vacuum Systems questions, answered by experts

Common repairs for central vacuum cleaners include motor repair, electrical repair, and blocked filters. Central vacuum motor issues typically come with a burning smell and loss of suction. With these issues, you might need simple lubrication to keep it running smoothly, or for more extreme problems, you could need a motor replacement.

Electrical problems or losing suction strength, might be reasons to swap out electrical components for new ones. However, a local central vacuum repair professional can tell you the best plan of action for your system.

No. Only the hose or the attachments are portable in a central vacuum system. A portable vacuum is a standalone model like a stick, canister, or upright. A central vacuum system is defined by a central power unit, which is installed in one place like an AC unit, and the connected network of piping to funnel the suction.

It can be difficult to know right away if your central vacuum is clogged since it operates quietly compared to regular vacuums. However, there are a couple of signs you can look for. If you feel like it’s losing suction or isn’t cleaning effectively, then there’s likely a clog somewhere.

Make sure you turn the vacuum on and feel the end of the hose handle. If you don’t feel any suction, then you’re dealing with a clog in the hose. You can see if the clog is further down in the system by attaching the hose to each outlet until you find the one with the least amount of suction.

Regular cleaning, sealing, and inspections help identify problems early and maintain aesthetics.

If your central vacuum has lost suction, you probably have a clog in the system. You can remove a clog yourself using a portable vacuum cleaner or central vacuum maintenance sheets. Stubborn clogs or damage to the system require a specialized technician to repair.
