"After I signed the contract and gave my deposit, I had a hard time getting responses on details, i.e. when they were coming to measure, etc.  Calls would go unreturned.  A couple of times, workers showed up unannounced to measure.  This was very odd.  Ultimately, they did a good job installing the garage door and the shutters for the front door, and their price was good.

We finally bought our home in the area of Coral Gables. It’s a property of 2000 sqf more or less that features hardwood floors everywhere. As you can imagine, we wanted to remodel a little bit before moving into the house, so we set up a budget for painting, remodeling the kitchen, and of course fixing the floors that seemed over 100 years old. We contacted Mr. Martinez through Angie’s List because we have used this website before and we have had pleasant experiences with the services offered by the contractors registered here. We were very impressed with Martinez Wood Floors’ website and the pictures of jobs they have done before, so of course they were the ones we wanted to work in our house. We sent them a message and they replied right away asking for more information about the floors and a phone number to arrange a visit. They came on time and previously called to let us know that they were on their way. Properly dress and with vast knowledge they measure the house and explained everything that needed to be done to repair and leave those floors looking like new. We liked the energy and the level of compromise they put in their work. We did not have to look anywhere else, they were the ones we were looking for. The other important factor was the price; we did not want to go cheap but we also did not want to invest a fortune on the floors. Right on the spot, their prices are very good. They sent us the estimate that same day via email, very sophisticated and explaining everything the customer needs to know. We went ahead and booked them. They arrived at the time we had scheduled with all the tools to do the job. They repaired and sanded the floors at an incredible speed. Everything was very professional and they made sure we liked what they were doing. The owner closely supervised the job. When the floors were ready to be stained, they did some samples for us to choose the color we liked. They did an amazing job! When we got back to the house to review everything, we were flipped by the way the floors looked. All perfect like brand new. They are skilled craftsmen and pay attention to details. After we had paid them everything, we decided to change the baseboards in the house and we had no idea where to choose from, so we called Mr. Martinez to ask him for suggestions. The next day, he brought several samples of baseboards and helped us make the choice. They installed all the baseboards in the house and the cuts were perfect. They have a vast experience on hardwood floors and know what the customer wants and expects from them. We are very happy with them."

"Tim was very responsive from day one.  The job was on a cabin about 3 hours from where I live and he updated me regularly on the progress of the work. "When we decided to redo our kitchen in April of 2012, we knew what we wanted fixed, our budget and that's about it. We started talking to contractors, kitchen design centers and researching ideas. We quickly realized we were in WAY over our heads. A lot of places offer free design services if you buy all of your materials through them. We didn't want to be tied down. We didn't want a complete tear down to the studs, either. Homemade Design to the rescue! First of all the price was an absolute steal for the service provided. Amanda and co. Listened to what we wanted and came up with inovative,functional and beautiful solutions. Our house is old. We wanted to keep that 1920s feel, but still have a dishwasher, granite countertops and stainless appliances! Amanda had the brilliant idea of only replacing the bottom cabinets. She also gave me excellent instructions on how to refinish my existing cabinets so they look like new. This was a perfect solution for US. Homemade Design gave us ideas for layout, cabinets, lighting, wall paint, appliances, furniture, countertops, backsplash, faucets, sink,and cusions for built in. She would have recommended flooring if we wanted,but we didn't. Now, Amanda is more like a consultant...( I actually called her my kitchen remodel therapist). You still are ultimately responsible for the plan and what works for you. If your measurements are off (like mine were) that's on you. I was adament about no island and no microwave over the stove and so she didn't put those in the design. Some suggestions were not my style. And I said so. Honestly, if I picked out my own kitchen it would be so safe: white subway tile or something. Amanda gave me the guts to mix patterns and create something spectacular! It took almost a year to complete ( contractors fault) We did a lot of work ourselves. We bought the cabinets, backsplash tile, light fixtures, table and banquette cusions through Homemade Design at a great discount, we checked!! If you try shopping for any part of your kitchen, the volume of choices can be overwhelming. We loved having Amanda narrow it down for us. Communication was through email, mostly. She never took longer than three business days to respond to my million questions or concerns. Awesome. 5 months later, my kitchen is a dream come true. And I owe it all to Homemade Design!

"When you purchase this service you are asked to send pictures of the room,  and a layout drawing  with the dimensions in inches.  I sent pictures from every angle in the room.  My layout drawing was rough, but I made sure that the dimensions were correct.  It is important to show doors, and width from door to wall, windows and spaces between window and wall, etc.

Explain how you invision the room and what you would like to keep in the room. You should let her know what you like and dislike as far as fabrics, colors, and style of furniture.  I hate paisley, but failed to include this in the information that I sent to the designer.  So there was some paisley in my concept board. I told her what I liked, but failed to tell her what I disliked and would not want to see in the room.

Once I sent pictures, dimensions, and room layout I received 2  suggested layouts for the room from Jill.  I selected the layout that I preferred.  You they receive a concept board for the room with  her suggested furnishings and fabrics. To my surprise she also gives alternatives to what she suggests.  Her suggestions are in various price ranges so that you can choose within your budget.
