"They came to the house 30 minutes after calling about a broken air-conditioner. This was about 7:00 in the evening. He was able to find the problem and repair it in approximately an hour. I was very relieved that they could fix it, without replacing the compressor. Great service and very professional. I feel the price was fair for an evening service call. Thank you Jason Daniels.

"First, John Page (the design consultant) was there when promised. He was very knowledgeable & took the time to really explain things & their procedures to my Mother & I which made all the difference in making a decision on whom to go with on this journey... I call it a "journey" for these reasons: Out of the 3 other companies we called here in the Keys, not one of the seemed to care enough to spend the time & effort Ellington did, & when we asked about extending our warranties & maintenance etc. nobody had anything remotely close to offer compared to the Ellington "No Worries" program wheras they take care of EVERYTHING & the best part is there are ton of benifits no one else even offered w/no exclusions for 10 plus years. They also offer a 180 day money back guarantee in writing so for those reasons it was an easy choice! The installers were punctual, clean cut & very nice on top of truly demonstrating what was extremely important to us which was true craftsmanship. When making a purchase of this magnitude we know from past experience, it is not necesarily the equipment itself that is so important, it is the installation & setup that is even more important. After all work was done, a quality control audit was performed to assure us the machine was giving us all the efficiency it is supposed to & the ductwork was indeed installed per Johns drawings & sealed air tight as he promised. It passed with flying colors! My Mother & I would certainely recommend Ellington AC to anyone tired of a slick talking salesman that promises the world & then it does not go as planned... Probably the most professional company I have ever dealt with down here, Thank you so much!"

"Computer did the "gotta send info to Microsoft" but when tried to reboot it ran through automatic repair without success. I did all the alternative without any success. He came and picked up the hard drive on Tuesday and returned it on Saturday. Fortunately he was able to "restore" without any data loss. Very happy with outcome."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

Yes. It's not just AC filters that get dirty. Ducts can accumulate dust and dirt quickly. Insects and animals can also get into duct systems, creating many problems. Dirt build-up and unwanted guests can constrict the airflow and cause rooms not to cool evenly. You might also see higher energy bills because they're not working as efficiently.

While all portable AC units will collect moisture as part of their cooling and dehumidifying process, whether and how often you need to drain them depends on what kind of unit you have and the natural humidity levels where you live. For example, if you live in a very dry area and have a self-evaporating unit, you may not need to drain your portable AC very often at all. Some units may automatically drain collected moisture out the window through their exhaust vent.

Look up your model number online to find additional information. Usually, you can just take a look at the old filter and find the brand name and dimensions to order a new one. When replacing the filter, always check that it’s pointed the right way to match the direction of your airflow. Many filters have arrows on them to help with this step.

When faced with HVAC issues, it's best to begin by ensuring the thermostat settings are correct for either heating or cooling. If the system isn't responding, check the thermostat for proper function and power supply. It's also important to examine air filters, as clogged ones can decrease performance. Confirm the power supply to the system by checking the circuit breakers and fuses. If these basic steps fail to resolve the issue, contact an HVAC professional for a more detailed diagnosis and repair.

An air conditioner’s watt usage depends on multiple factors, including the type of AC unit, its size, and how often you use it. With that said, most central air conditioners consume between 3,000 and 3,500 watts. Meanwhile, window AC units use 900 to 1,400 watts, and portable air conditioners consume 2,900 to 4,100 watts.
