"It would be impossible to find a better guy to fix your AC than Ozzy, owner of Ice City AC, Inc. Our AC broke down in 96 degree weather and I never thought my young kids and I would make it through the night. Unbearable heat! The next morning I went on Homeadvisor in hopes of finding someone to help us repair our AC as quickly as possible. I was amazed to receive 7 or 8 return calls within minutes from AC companies offering to send out a technician first to provide us with an estimate of the costs required to make the repairs. One by one their estimators came and tried their best to convince me to hire them to install a complete new AC system for about $4000 which we knew was not needed. We have a 5 ton Rheem unit that is as good as it gets, and is only 7 years old. Then, a guy by the name of Ozzy texted me and told me that he owns his own company and personally does all of the repairs himself. He assured me that the other companies with more than 285 plus reviews would have to provide us with an estimate first and then schedule an appointment for the following day or two. When Ozzy arrived I immediately felt his real sincerity and unbelievable knowledge of air conditioning. He quickly found the cause of the leaks and quoted me a very reasonable and fair price and told me he would do all of the extensive work right now . . . on the spot and he promised to give us a 90 day guarantee on his invoice. He was here for 4 hours in the scorching heat and did a perfect job for us. God bless Ozzy. And I would recommend him as highly as possible."

"Freezing point air conditioning initially responded quickly to scheduling and performing the job. Finishing the job to its completion was whether a lengthy process. However their cost is fairly reasonable For an AC installation. Worth to keep around for future projects."

"I just DIY installed my brand new ComfortStar 12,000 BTU 20 Seer 2 last night in my car garage. The installation went well and the mini split was impressive in quietly & quickly cooling a 2 car garage. The next morning the cool from the AC got warm. There was a leak throughout the night and by the afternoon when no cool air was given. I starting looking online to find R410A frigerant to pickup near me. I found out that R410a is to be discontinued with the exception of ordering online…with delivery time & no immediate replacement. I reached a few local HVAC techs but appointments were a day or two later. Adrian Cooling & Heating LLC’s & Arlet answered my distress call. A few hours was all it took with a friendly & knowledgeable tech to diagnose, refill refrigerant(2lbs) & checked to make sure no leaks. Bravo, an amazing rescue and my much needed work to be done in my cooled garage is very appreciated. I have all good praises from the reassuring phone convo w/Arlet & Adrian Cooling & Heating’s competent tech! I will only consider them if in need. Absolutely high regards & recommendations with my entire experience and shockingly fair in service fees. My Pop’s assumed “Emergency” fees would double or triple…refrigerant fee was the only invoiced!!! Thank you so much! Rouel"

"A year ago they responded to an SOS related to a full A/C failure. They were prompt and professional. It took several days, in the heat of the summer, till they were able to fix it, but they had to get a part from the west coast so we sweated through the ordeal. While they were working on replacing the main board, I also engaged them to clean the system. I thought the charge was high ($1000), but needed it done. A year later, one of the A/C mini-split heads stopped working. They came the next day. I paid $200 for them to trouble shoot it, which took approximately 20 minutes. (Subsequently another A/C service charged me only $95 to trouble shoot!) They said they would order the part and get back to me. After I week, I had not heard from them. When I called they said they could get the part but it would take 4-6 weeks. I said okay. What could I say. I left it in their trustworthy hands. After 6 weeks I heard nothing from them. I called. I left 4 messages, which were all unreturned. On the 5th try, someone answered. He said he couldn't get the part. Would have been nice to know that 5 weeks ago. Still puzzled why they didn't communicate with me and thus the low review. I have to say that I thought they were really nice people, but obviously my business wasn't that important to them. So be it. But a little courtesy and honesty would go a long way when servicing a small community like Key West. Because of the later incident, I wanted to give them an F, but that wouldn't be fair. If you're lucky, have deep pockets, and the problem isn't complicated, they are okay. Just be aware. I thought I had actually found a reliable service, but that wasn't the case."

"I was not sure what was wrong so I called these guys, described what I knew, and they said they would come look at it. They said there was an $85 minimum charge for an assessment but that it would be credited toward any kind of services and equipment that I needed. They showed up within 2 hours and even called me ahead of time to double check that I would be there. Once they arrived they checked several things before opening up the unit and then showed me where the electrical part of the system had melted, likely due to a power surge. So it had to be replaced, but they said they could replace the whole system (inside, outside and thermostat) that day. They even got a crane because the outdoor unit is on the roof of my condo unit. The techs were all quick, polite and respectful. They also helped provide photos and documentation should we need to submit a claim to the homeowners insurance company. I would highly recommend them and would use them again in a heartbeat. Big thanks to Alex Rodriguez and his team."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

You can adjust uneven airflow in your home by adjusting the dampers on the vents. However, if the temperature feels consistent throughout the home, don’t worry too much about uneven airflow. Generally speaking, larger rooms should receive more airflow than smaller rooms, especially if they only have one vent.

Most HVAC companies recommend against setting your AC below 70 as it could freeze up the system and cause more problems. Regardless of how hot it is outside, there is generally a 20 degree difference between the outside and inside temperatures, so even if it’s 100 degrees outside, your AC will likely not be able to cool your home to 70 degrees.

Yes, you can put an AC unit on the roof of your home or commercial building. For proper installation, you’ll need to ensure the roof surface is flat, it’s accessible for maintenance and cleaning, and an AC installation pro agreed that your home is a candidate for package units. Don’t forget to consider the climate in your area, as homes that experience frequent tropical storms or hurricanes may not benefit from this type of system.

The length of an AC cycle depends on the settings in your thermostat and the unit you have. Central AC doesn't constantly run at full blast the way that a window unit does. A cooling cycle in most homes is 15 to 20 minutes. Then, the unit stays off for seven to 10 minutes to circulate the cold air in the house before the cycle repeats. It should repeat two or three times per hour. A short cycle lasts less than 10 minutes and then turns off.

An AC drip pan may stop draining if there’s a clog where the drip pan connects to the drain line. Clogs can form from a lack of cleaning or from rust or corrosion buildup. Cleaning the drip pan at least once per month lowers the chances of debris clogging the drain line.
