"Working with Alpha Foundations was an exceptionally positive experience from start to finish. The project manager, Joshua, came out to look at our cracking concrete patio, diagnosed the issue, and had a cost-effective solution for us. He also provided all the information we needed to get a quick approval from our HOA. The team that did the work, Tory & Blake, were on time, efficient, and highly skilled. Not only did they stabilize the concrete patio using their foam injection process, they spent a lot of time caulking and smoothing all the cracks (literally on their hands & knees) doing a meticulous job. The process worked so well, it actually lifted one section and eliminated a 1" difference in height so no more trip hazard either. This company clearly invests in a high quality product and skilled professionals. We are very glad we found them."

The foundations of this company are built on the desire to run a compassionate, helpful, and honest business. We understand that when contractors or homeowners are searching for an engineer to make a project come to life, there will be questions and concerns that we are ready to tackle. Most Engineering firms have a lot of hands on the same project. When this happens it leaves room for miscommunication, errors, and frustration. At S&E we’ve eliminated this pain point by limiting the amount of projects we take on in our small (but mighty!) operation. Giving you the speed, accuracy, affordability, and peace of mind you need for your next design. Competitive pricing and quick turnaround times. We look forward to working with you!

"Prompt and courteous. Professional opinion needed and received."

I specialize in: - Small and large jobs and being on time - I am Licensed, Bonded and Insured - I will respect your home and your time - Real Estate Pre and Post sale inspection repairs - Accessibility renovations for seniors and people with disabilities - Getting things off of your To Do list - Custom Built-ins, Furniture and Cabinetry - Trim Carpentry, Base and Crown Molding - Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling - Everything around the house. I look forward to your call.

"Initially the performance level was on excellent level. Timing may have been less than precise but the work was exemplary. After returning from a vacation for a month, there was a [unfortunate personal matter] that occurred on the end of Noble Construction, & when they returned it was a completely different level of work being done. Although allowances were being made this still wasn't enough to compensate for the issues of not showing up & non-communication. After the last day of Noble Construction actually showing up on-site there was still hope they would return to regroup & finish the work. Knowing what had taken place time had been given for them to contact the owner & myself to start again but after several weeks it never did. A registered letter of dismissal was eventually required to be sent out after several attempts had been made & ignored to contact Noble Construction to find out what was going on. Tools had been left on-site & a portion of the Owners property has yet to be returned for installation. It is unfortunate but accurate. Approximately 1/2 of the fee was paid in advance & that is about how much work was finished."

Structural Engineering questions, answered by experts

The 10 10 rule describes the formula most contractors use to determine how much to charge for a job. Allowing for 10% overhead above the total projected cost to do the work and 10% profit sets a contractor up for success, even if there are delays or other problems on the project. This formula isn’t a hard-and-fast rule, but it is a ballpark figure to begin with when estimating your expenses on a job.

A structural engineer’s report is almost always worth it, as it can help you avoid buying or overpaying for a home with structural issues. The most important thing the report does for you is provide peace of mind that you won’t have to pay thousands of dollars for structural repairs right after closing on a property.

A split-level home is one that has several staggered floors connected by short staircases, while a split floor plan separates the primary bedroom from the rest of the bedrooms. Split floor plans are most often found in single-story homes, while split-level homes are always at least two stories.

Squeaky floors don’t always mean structural damage. Usually, it’s caused by friction somewhere inside your floor—whether it’s a loose floorboard or a gap between the subfloor and joists. If there is structural damage, you’ll notice other signs like soft or sagging floors, cracks that go from the wall to the ceiling, and horizontal cracks on your foundation.

In framing, studs are placed at 16-inch intervals to coincide with the typical spacing of wall materials such as drywall or plywood. This spacing is called "on-center" and is necessary for maintaining structural stability and efficient use of materials. The 16-inch spacing also helps to distribute the weight evenly across the building's structure. For those looking to cut material costs and improve energy efficiency, 24-inch stud spacing can be employed through a method called "advanced framing". This requires careful planning and adherence to local building codes to ensure structural integrity.
