"My wife and I hired Russi to remove nails/screws from walls, repair and sparkle walls, paint the interior of the entire home, install ceiling fans, toilets, a dish washer, and caulk any cracks. They did a a great job with everything except (reason why only 3.5 stars) touch up the areas where the paint didn?t cover all, he didn?t come back to finish the garage, nor the caulking. Never responded to my text messages nor did he come by when he said he would. If you use them just stay on top of him in getting the work done."

My name is Blake Demunck, Im proud father of 3, and I started BOA Painting & Home Improvement a little over a year and a half ago (at the time of writing this). Many of my family members own construction businesses specializing in different fields, so, I have worked in home improvement since I can remember! I take pride in my work and don't consider a job finished until I can look at it and say it’s perfect (and the customer does as well). Integrity, quality, and reliability are all virtues of mine that I display in my personal life that I bring to my business life as well. If you like what you read, I would love if you pick me and my business to finish your home improvement projects!

"Michael is very professional on the drywall repair project. And he is also very friendly, as we were waiting for the paint to dry, he noticed some other parts need work which was not part of the project but he also fixed it and painted it. Thank you, Michael!"

"I can honestly say that they were very professional and did an awesome job they remodeled my kitchen from top to bottom and I could not be more satisfied. After they finish the kitchen, I rehire them to do a bedroom and it turned out great. They painted the walls re-textured. The ceiling lay down the laminated flooring. I’ll give them a 10 out of 10."

Drywall questions, answered by experts

While certain types of textured walls can seem dated (looking at you, popcorn), textured walls are a common sight in both older and more modern homes. The main reason textured walls may be here to stay is that they are an excellent way to hide minor imperfections on a wall and give it a finished appearance. Some homeowners think a coat of paint on drywall is a bit industrial-looking. However, that look works perfectly in modern home design

Your walls are likely cracking due to fluctuations in the temperature outside. Drywall tends to expand and contract when temperatures and humidity levels change, and this repeated movement can lead to cracks in your walls, particularly around door frames. If you have multiple diagonal cracks, you may want to have your foundation inspected, as cracks can also be a sign of a bigger issue.

Wall anchors are suitable for drywall and plaster walls, which are common in most homes. However, different wall materials may require specialized anchors. For concrete or masonry walls, you'd typically use concrete anchors. When dealing with other wall types, such as brick or tile, specific anchors designed for those materials may be necessary. Always consult with a hardware specialist or check the manufacturer's recommendations to ensure you select the appropriate anchors for your specific wall type.

You can put certain types of plaster over other types, but doing so isn't always the best idea. For example, putting a coat of gypsum over lime plaster is possible, but doing so will limit the lime plaster's breathability and potentially affect its performance.

Since cement plaster tends to leave a textured surface, no matter how much you smooth it, some people prefer to use gypsum plaster as a topcoat over cement plaster, creating a smoother surface.

The best way to make long, straight cuts is to use a utility knife and a T-square to score the sheet, snap along the score, and then finish the cut by cutting through the paper on the opposite side with the utility knife. If you’re making small cuts, curved cuts, or cutouts for electrical boxes or light fixtures, you can use a manual jab saw to keep costs down, but an electric spiral saw or oscillating multi-tool will get the cleanest, fastest cuts possible.
