Customers say: Quick response

"Just my whole house. We had to get rid of all the carpet, due to health issues. They put wood-plank and tile throughout the house. They also installed a shower. Extremely good. He is a true artist, and it was neat the way they worked. Really, really good at what they did. He was referred to me by a neighbor. Already recommended him to another neighbor - our street has kept him really busy!"

"Carl was great! I sent him a photos of the closet and of the doors I wanted installed. He gave us the estimate for his work and told us how to order the doors. Although Carl did offer to pick up the doors himself, we were able to fit them in our station wagon, so we bought them at Lowe's, ourselves. Carl arrived on time and completed the work as promised. He installed track for top and bottom of sliding doors and had to adjust tile and molding to do so. He patched a spot on our wall, too. The doors look great, and just as the other reviewers mentioned, Carl really is a super nice guy! This was a small job, but even so, Carl treated us like it was very important to him. I appreciated his attitude, as well as his skill set! His work was excellent, and soon we hope to use him to remodel our kitchen! Thanks, Carl!

Small jobs welcome

"Zack has just completed multiple projects in our home -- drywalling and painting our bathroom ceiling and repainting the entire bathroom and woodwork, installing a new bathroom fan which was so much more involved due to our selection of the fan, replacing our shower head, repair of living room wall and repainting the entire living room and baseboards throughout, and repairing and repainting the top of the mantle and hearth. Zack's workmanship is impeccable, and I have extremely high standards of perfection. My bathroom looks like a showplace, and my living room is just beautiful! I was a little nervous about my painted fireplace because it had been sprayed before it was installed, and therefore, had no brush strokes. Zack had to repair the mantle surface and hearth and repainted it on site, and I am thrilled to say that it is perfect, not a brush stroke to be seen - in fact, it looks better than it had when it was installed. Zack is also prompt, courteous, and friendly and he completed all of this work in 2 1/2 days. We are having him put ceramic tile in our kitchen, plus additional painting and woodworking later this summer."

"I contacted Jerry for an emergency carpet removal due to flooding, with resultant black mold, and he came the next day and uninstalled the carpet in 3 bedrooms and also treated/removed the black mold so it wouldn't spread. He installed LVP flooring, absolutely outstanding, as well as fixed a severely urgent foundational issue, sealed persistently leaking French doors, removed and replaced compromised drywall, removed and replaced several cracked floor tiles (versus tearing and replacing all the tiles in the entire living room and kitchen!), did some electrical work and rewiring, removed and redid a bathroom vanity and backsplash, sanded and repainted the walls in 3 bedrooms, as well as countless other jobs that arose. He and Josh really went above and beyond, and the finished result (whole house!) was absolutely amazing! Jerry has years of experience and accomplished skill in literally everything that could and does go wrong, or need repair, or need upgrade inside and outside a home! He's also very warm and reassuring with stressed out homeowners. I highly recommend Jerry of Home Mechanix, LLC, if you want the job done right the first time, at the right price, with an outstanding outcome!"

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

There are several different products that allow underwater repair. Pool putty can help repair chips, cracks, and loose tiles without draining your pool, but it should only be used for a temporary fix. Certain two-part epoxy adhesives will cure underwater, too. That said, while it is technically possible to fix pool tiles underwater, it is usually not ideal, depending on the depth of your pool. You will still have to reach the tile, which means you might have to dive and make the repair while submerged.

Yes, tile floor removal is a physically demanding project that takes between eight and 12 hours per 100 square feet. It also requires protective gear and closing the area off with construction-grade plastic sheeting to avoid dust and damage to other parts of your home.

The best paints for shower tiles include epoxy, latex, or acrylic. Ideally, you should look for paints that are waterproof and mildew-resistant if you plan to paint shower or other bathroom tiles. You can even find waterproof paints made specifically for tiled surfaces, which will be the best option for shower tile paint that lasts as long as possible.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.

When tiling over concrete, you should install an anti-fracture membrane after the concrete has been prepared. The anti-fracture membrane acts as a moisture barrier and should be installed to protect the tiles from moisture which helps maintain their integrity. Often, Ditra, a brand name, is used interchangeably with moisture barrier.
