"Very experienced and professional. Have used this company a few times and I am always happy with their work. They have cleaned and sealed my natural stone on my porch, terrace and pool deck. I have also used them to make some repairs on the stone floors/walls. And lastly I have used them to polish my marble kitchen countertops . Highly recommend them!!!"

"Joe was very informative when he first contacted me. You always hear about contractors not showing up or not doing a good job. But Joe showed up when he said he would - he even drove from 3 hours away to come do our counters! He did a great job honing and polishing our kitchen countertops as well as sealing our bathroom countertops and even the ones outside. And Joe gave us all the information to take care of our counters. We’re very happy with the job he did."

"American Wall and Flooring did an amazing job installing the porcelain tile in our living room. Adam, the owner, exceeded all of our expectations from start to finish. He was professional, punctual, and paid close attention to every detail. We couldn’t be happier with how beautiful our new floors turned out. We will definitely be using them again in the future and highly recommend them to anyone looking for quality flooring work."

Customers say: Quick response

"Just my whole house. We had to get rid of all the carpet, due to health issues. They put wood-plank and tile throughout the house. They also installed a shower. Extremely good. He is a true artist, and it was neat the way they worked. Really, really good at what they did. He was referred to me by a neighbor. Already recommended him to another neighbor - our street has kept him really busy!"

"The moment Zack arrived at our home to provide us an estimate to install our new kitchen floor, we knew that he was the contractor we wanted to install our floor. He was courteous and kind and above all a wonderful person. Zack did an amazing job from start to finish and the completed project exceeded our expectations. Even when we would say something looked good and met our high standards, Zack wasn't satisfied until he knew it was perfect and met his higher standards. We highly recommend Zack Perk and Perk Construction and are eagerly looking forward to having him do many more home projects for us in the future. Thank you Zack!"

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

The number of shower niches you need (or want) depends on the size of the shower and how many bathroom products you plan on storing. If you keep it simple with just soap and shampoo, the one shower niche will probably do the trick. But if you’re adding scrubs and soaks, you may need to think about installing two or more.

If you hire a professional to lay tile, you can expect to pay $3 to $15 per square foot for labor. For a 100-square-foot tiling project, that would equal $30 to $150 in labor. These costs may increase if you need extra services (such as tile removal, wall repair, or waterproofing). For example, tile removal costs an additional $2 to $7 per square foot.

Porcelain and ceramic tiles are made from clay, but porcelain tiles are fired in a kiln at a higher temperature. This makes them more durable, but it also means porcelain is more expensive than ceramic at $3 to $5 more per square foot.

Even with the higher price point, many people choose porcelain over ceramic because there are more color and design options.

Yes, provided you aren’t installing drywall over it. But you can skim coat it, apply new tile right on top, paint it, or stencil it. For more budget- and DIY-friendly options, you can install beadboard or apply decals. Just make sure that the current tiles are in good condition and prepped well for the paint or adhesive to stick.

Porcelain countertops have a fairly long life span, sometimes lasting for decades. Depending on how much wear and tear you put your countertops through, it could last 25 to 50 years. But be warned, porcelain is also prone to cracking, so as long as you take good care of it, you’ll have those countertops looking brand new for years to come.
