"Janos Gabor, the owner of this small company, is honest and his rates are reasonable. His employee. Norbert, was a tireless worker. Because it is a small local company, you are given personal attention. They also put a new ceiling in my lanai, installed new screen doors, and installed new soffits all arou d my house."

Small jobs welcome

"Our 18â ceiling had some hurricane water damage when the soffits blew out. We tried repeatedly to find a contractor. Every one we interviewed either didnâ t want the job or never returned promised phone calls, We put the project on hold. Fast forward to August and we decided to try Angieâ s List. Rodolfo called us immediately and set up an appointment to see the project in person. He was professional and very impressive. He ran his business as all contractors should. The job was completed on time, looks great and the clean up also impressed us. We wish there were more companies like Roldolfoâ s!"

"1. The estimator who came to the house said that at the end, the owner, Rodney would come by to do a walk-through. He never showed up and after the job was started, never heard from him again. 2. The paint crew was a husband and wife, probably late 40s who spoke very little English. It was a daily challenge for them to understand what we were asking. 3. Every morning my wife and I would need to point out areas they missed or allowed paint to flow onto other areas. 4. They would sometimes move from one area to another without finishing that room. Example: after painting the living/dining room (walls and ceiling) and getting pain all over the crown molding which they painted the day before, they started on the laundry/garage entry hallway. We had to ask them to repaint the crown molding so we could move the furniture back in place. 5. Several times we had to remind them to also paint both sides of the doors. Why they would not do it at the same time...I do not know. 6. They did work very hard and were polite and courteous. We absolutely had no problem with their work ethic. They were supposed to caulk areas that needed it. They did not until we pushed them to do it. Holes in the wall were supposed to be speckled, repaired, and painted. They were only painted over. I re-did them myself and will paint them.. 7. My office was the last and they blew thru it like a tornado. In many areas where the wall & ceiling meet, you can see old blue paint anywhere from 1/4 to 1/2 inch wide. 8. When they finished and packed up the wife was going around the house using a measuring wheel. When asked why she said they are contracts and get paid by square footage. Then she said all look ok...I need to check for the balance. My wife and I are now going to the touch-up areas that should have been done. The owner may dispute this but I showed his estimator the other proposal. There was only a $10 difference. It was very formal, well written, and bullet-pointed everything they would do. They asked for no money upfront (Armor Guard asked for $2000) and stated in writing that no money is due until a walkthrough is completed with the owner and we are totally satisfied. Well that is all Archie J., Palm Harbor"

"Smith Remodeling was wonderful to work with! Lisa Smith was my main point of contact. She went over everything with me in detail, and promptly emailed me a quote for the work. They were able to start right away. Her two guys, Scott and Kent, were friendly and worked hard to get our room done. We had a one day delay because I didn't like the paint colour I'd chosen - it looked different on the wall - and Lisa worked around the schedule change easily. The ceiling looks amazing, there was no dust residue or anything to clean up, and the rest of the room that they painted looks great, too. Smith Remodeling was fast, efficient, friendly, and professional, and I highly recommend them."

"I was skeptical when I read the reviews for Cornerstone Ceilings. But I have to say that they were right on. Clayton came out to my property and we discussed in full what needed to be done.We agreed on a price and work commenced. Clayton and his employee went right to work and did a fantastic job. I added a few things to the list, and they were also done in the time frame. All of the work was top notch, and they went above and beyond the call. At the end of the day, the added work was done at a reasonable cost as well.
I have since used him again for another property, and again he did a great job.
I highly recommend him to anyone that needs any drywall work done. You won't be sorry.

Popcorn Ceilings questions, answered by experts

On average, repairing a ceiling costs anywhere from $450 to $1,750. However, there are many variables that can impact the price of this project. For example, the type of ceiling material, type and extent of the damage, and local labor rates all affect your costs. Holes and cracks are less expensive to fix, while structural issues and water damage are pricier problems.

While you should consult with a ceiling professional for larger cracks, especially if you’re not sure what’s causing your ceiling to crack, you can certainly try to repair small cracks on your own. If you’re up for the task, here’s how to repair ceiling cracks for $150 or less.

Textured walls are a great way to hide imperfections left over by drywall installation, but many homeowners feel like it’s an outdated look, despite there being so many types of drywall texture. And while the textured walls of today are a far cry from the popcorn ceilings and faux stucco of our grandmother’s homes, if you want a more modern look or you want to install wallpaper, it’s time to smooth out your walls.

Priming a popcorn ceiling before painting is a good idea, especially if the ceiling is stained, discolored, or has never been painted. Interior paint primer helps seal the surface, preventing stains from bleeding through and allowing the paint to adhere better. Use a stain-blocking, water-based primer for best results.

As stylish new design options become more popular, modern drop ceiling designs also include metal tiles of tin and copper, which can create a dark, moody atmosphere in your basement bar, home theater, or game room. There are also a variety of modern lighting ideas for drop ceilings, including recessed and surface mount lights.
