"It took a lot of detective work to find the problem (due to the rarity of the problem), but they discovered it and took care of the problem. They did a good job and cleaned up very well. They told us that if had they installed the water heater that this problem would not have happened. It was a ball of some sort that had blocked the hot water pipe and they always remove those when they install a new water heater."

"Had issue with septic tank overflowing when heavy use such as washing multiple loads of laundry. Had 2 other septic tank companies and both immediately went to "you need to replace your drain field". No analysis or testing just straight to the $10 K to $12 K estimates. Then Jeff from Tampa Bay Plumbers came out and explained their process. The end quote for a new drain field was about 4-5 k less depending upon if we had to have a a pump also installed. That was awesome to hear in itself. But first he said that we should do the following, pump out the tank and then get to the distributor box and see if may be something was wrong there. Wow he was going to actually diagnose the problem. Refreshing. So their techs came out the next day, one pumped out the tank while the other dug around the distributor box. Low and behold the box was filled with sludge. The system is over 20 years old. He thoroughly cleaned out the box and tank of sludge and the pipes leading into the drain field. Those too had some sludge about 2 feet from the box but he was able to clear them as well. So although we suspect the drain field may need replacement in the future, we think we have a few more years before that is needed and appreciate a company who wants your business by not jumping to the most expense "fix" when it is NOT necessary. Professionalism and honesty earns them my plumbing and septic work from now on. If you are smart you will always call them to at least get a quote for any of your plumbing needs."

"It went great! Chris was very prompt at returning my request for more information and even followed back up with me a week later to see if I had any other questions. The technician showed up on time and was very friendly and helpful. They installed the entire system in approx. 2 hours and went over all operation instructions and what to expect with the new softener. This experience was one of the best I've received in a long time! Great company, great people and great service!"

"Chris was able to fix multiple problems with my sprinkler system. He even discovered and fixed a cracked PVC pipe that was caused by a previous contractor installing a fence! Chris contacted me on a Sunday immediately after I posted on Angi and was here on Monday working on the system. Great work by Chris and his buddy Bret."

"As a homeowner, it gives you peace of mind to know a great plumber, and Knott's Plumbing is fantastic! I woke up one morning to a damp dinning room rug and soon realized our water heater had gone bad and began leaking. I called Knott's Plumbing and Joe came to south Tampa from St. Pete with a new water heater, got it installed and everything was good as new in a matter of hours. The very next week our washing machine drainage pipe clogged and was backing up. I knew who to call and Knott's plumbing was there again for a smooth fix of the problem. Great people and great, fair pricing. Highly recommended."

"SATURDAY, April 21st  - The first plumber arrived on time but was unable to install new faucet because the new faucet stem was too large for our existing sink bowl (not their fault). Quoted $201 cost for the faucet installation (with the $78 Angie's List coupon).  Since he was unable to install the faucet, he put the sink back together and I had him raise several hose bibs outside our house so they weren't on the ground since my husband has bad back and bending all the way down to use hoses outside house was a problem.  He did an outstanding  job with these and supported them against house so armadillos wouldn't snap them but the cost seemed pricey for raising 2 hose bibs  ($330.00 ).   The next day (Sunday) when I went to put things back under our bathroom sink, I noticed standing water.  The sink was now leaking underneath.  I called the office that night and was promised a plumber would be out Monday at 4pm to fix the leak.  My husband took off work early to meet them and around 3pm the office called and said the plumber got delayed at his previous job and wouldn't make it to our house that evening.  We weren't very happy about that but the company was always professional and communicated with us every step of the way. We rescheduled for 8am Tuesday morning and again the office called to say the plumber would be late, which was fine.   He arrived about 20 minutes late but got right to work. He fixed the leak under the sink promptly and we had purchased another faucet hoping he would have time to install it and we would pay him directly for that.  We asked him for the cost of the faucet install and he quoted approx. $176 to do the work (without the Angie's list coupon). My concern is that the quote from the first plumber with the Angies List coupon was $201 for the faucet installation but when there was no Angie's List coupon involved, we were quoted $176 for the same job.  It appears that they mark their prices up when an Angie's List coupon is involved and that doesn't seem right to me. The plumber also tried to get us to purchase a plumbing contract with them stating we could save money on this and future jobs but he didn't pressure us or anything, just mentioned it to us.  We don't often have a need for a plumber so for us it wouldn't be worthwhile. In summary, the finished work is fine now.  The leak has been fixed and the installed faucet looks and works great. The company was professional, came back to fix the leak without issue, and communicated well about all changes or issues. I probably wouldn't use them again though because their prices seemed high and they seem to play pricing games."

Sink Installation questions, answered by experts

According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), a leaky faucet that’s dripping at a rate of one drip per second can waste more than 3,000 gallons of water per year. This is one reason why it’s important to fix a leaky faucet sooner rather than later.

Today’s standard sink stopper size is 1.5 inches. However, you can still find different sizes if your house uses an older sink stopper. Other sizes you can find in most hardware stores include one inch, 1-1/4 inch, 1-3/8 inch, 1-5/8 inch, 1-7/8 inch, 2 inch, 2-1/4 inch, 2-3/8 inch, and 2.5 inch.

Some of the most common plumbing repairs are certainly no small issues. The good news is that plumbers typically deal with these problems frequently and have the parts and tools ready to take care of them quickly and efficiently. These common problems include:

  • Clogged drains: $75–$250

  • Clogged toilet: $125–$300

  • Bathtub and shower: $100–$600

  • Faucet or showerhead: $200–$350

  • Sink pipe: $200–$500

  • Toilet repair: $150–$400

Putting in a new bidet attachment or seat requires as little as 30 minutes. Installing a full bidet toilet or stand-alone bidet might take one to three hours. Additionally, if you need a GFCI outlet installed, that can take 30 minutes to three hours depending on the complexity of the job.

There are few things more annoying than trying to fall asleep only to be woken up by the sound of a dripping faucet. If the faucet drips when the water is off, it probably has a loose or damaged seat washer. The screw gets loose from repeated use, making the faucet drip. With outdoor faucets, this is more common in the summer when people are using it more often to water the garden or cool off. Disassembling the faucet and tightening or replacing the seat washer and screw can get the dripping to stop.
