Customers say: Quick response

"I hired him via the Angi app to pressure clean my roof, and I was not disappointed. I absolutely recommend him. He knows what it takes to do the job right, is very considerate and professional, and his prices are very affordable. I even asked if he could do the driveway and backyard while he was there, and it only cost about 30% extra of the original quote for the roof, given the smaller size of both driveway & backyard. He took and sent pictures and videos of the before-and-after for both roof and driveway+backyard. Excellent service; it was a pleasure to work with him."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

There is a weight limit for walking on a roof, but it’s determined by your roof structure and not the roofing material, at least in the case of a metal roof. Consider that entire teams of roofers will be on top of your home during the installation, so the weight of a single person won’t compromise your roof. That isn’t the case for something like a tile roof, so a high weight limit is one benefit of a metal roof.

The roof overhang, also known as the eaves, does count as part of the roof’s square footage because it must be covered with the roofing material. The overhang is one of the reasons why you can’t base your roof's square footage on the square footage of the house. The roof square footage must also account for the pitch of the roof as well as the eaves.

Yes, moss can be dangerous for your roof if left in place to grow without treatment. The moss soaks up and holds moisture. Having a constantly damp roof could lead to problems with rot for the parts of the roof that consist of wood. Additionally, a patch of thick moss may draw insects and birds, which could damage the roof. Thick moss could block the roof’s drainage system. Water then may back up after a rainstorm and cause further damage that could eventually lead to roof repair expenses or the cost of roof replacement.

In most cases and locations, roofs with a single layer of asphalt roofing shingles won't require roof removal before installing a metal roof. However, underlayment may be necessary on roofs with moderate shingle damage. Heavily damaged roofs or ones with multiple shingle layers will most likely require removal before a metal roof can go on.

Roofing replacements and repairs expose the interior of your home to the elements. Failing to protect these areas during inclement weather can cause extensive damage and job delays. Have a conversation with your pro to learn their plans to use tarps, plastic sheeting, or other waterproofing methods to keep your home safe. Also, ask whether your pro will inspect your home during rain or snow to ensure the covering works.
