"Me. De Leon and his crew responded the same afternoon of my call and, in the rain, provided the necessary repair. His responsiveness was outstanding and his explanation of his experience for and nature of the the repair was forthright. We will utilize his company when we change our gutters in conjunction with repainting the exterior of our house in the early fall."

"I had 6 rain gutter companies provide diagrams and estimates. Jesus spent the least amount of time. Initially I thought that was bad. Then I quickly realized -- no, that is good, he is simply sharper than the others so it doesn't require nearly as much time. Every company basically agreed on 75% of my property...the front left and entire back. Nobody agreed on the front right, which incorporates the front porch and a nearby permanent carport. I had proposals for 2, 3 and 4 downspouts in that area. Every conceivable location for them. It became amusing once I realized every subsequent company would provide a different remedy. Jesus' solution was the most sensible. That's why I went with this company. He used 2 downspouts in that area, while cluttering only one of my brick carport pillars with a downspout, and completely eliminating the prior downspout near my front porch. Nobody else offered a combo like that. Jesus' estimate was among the lowest. But some of the higher priced companies had specified the wider 6 inch gutters. They are more expensive. I contacted Jesus to inquire about how much extra it would be for 6 inch gutters. He could have told me anything. I assumed the price would go up $100-$200. But Jesus told me his estimate was already for the 6 inch gutters. That clinched it The gutters are now in place and functioning perfectly. I had workers from my pool company say they will really help with my pool deck situation. Previously I never had gutters above the pool. My only annoyance was that the installers did not speak one syllable of English. Jesus and others atop the company are perfectly bilingual. But the workers did not understand my request to place the downspouts a couple of inches higher than normal. I am going to change the slant of the ground, raising it higher near the wall to create a positive slope. That's why the downspouts couldn't be tight to today's ground level. But since the workers couldn't understand that, they were insisting on placing the spouts tight to the ground. I had to summon my neighbor to translate. Frustrating."

"We had a great experience with Peter, he is an absolute professional. He emailed us with daily updates and sent photos to my husbands office explaining small details that couldn't be explained over the phone. He was always on time and very conscientious during the daily clean up. Our `gutters look great and work extremely well."

Gutter Repair and Replacement questions, answered by experts

In most cases, it makes more sense to repair leaking or damaged gutters than it will to replace them. You’ll spend an average of $400 to repair your gutters, while full replacement will cost around $2,000 or more, depending on the gutter material and style and the size of your home. If your gutters are nearing the end of their lifespan—usually around 20 years for aluminum or vinyl gutters or up to 50 years for copper or steel—then it might make sense to replace them, as it could cost you less in the long run.

Downspouts channel water from your roof and gutters into the ground following a specific route so water doesn’t accumulate around your house’s foundation. Without a downspout, the standing water will wash away material and disrupt the soil, leading to foundation erosion. The standing water will also form ice around your house during cold weather, causing a safety hazard.

With routine maintenance, gutters don’t usually need to be replaced for 20 years, but there are warning signs that they might need early replacement. Signs that your gutters need to be replaced include sagging, visible cracks or holes, peeling paint, rust, standing water in your gutter, and water leaking into your basement. Pushing off replacing your gutters can lead to extensive damage to both the interior and exterior of your home. Regular maintenance can help your gutters last all 20 years — and sometimes, even longer.

No—gutters should be designed and properly installed so they are ready to handle any level of rainflow from your roof. If you notice pooling water around your gutters or on the roof, it’s imperative that you contact a gutter repair pro near you—the slope of your gutters could be off and need adjusting.

There are a handful of things you can look for to determine if you need to pay for gutter repairs, including the following:

  • Water leaking from the underside of your gutters during rainfall

  • Visible gaps between your gutters and your roof

  • Frequent issues with gutters overflowing or holding standing water

  • Gutters that sag or pull away from the house

  • Water damage to soffits, fascia boards, or other building materials

  • Mold growth on your exterior walls

  • Soil erosion underneath your roof overhang

  • Foundation leaks or inward bowing of foundation walls
