"Our experience with City Roofing was excellent from start to finish. Very professional staff and hard working roof crew. They worked with us from the selection of our roof, water resistant material, inspection process and final miami-dade approval. They answered promptly any questions we had. "We could not be happier with our selection.  Jesus was our sales rep.  He was one of several estimates.  We felt very comfortable with his honesty and knowledge.  He mentioned many obstacles to be expected that no one else had the courage to disclose.  The entire process went very smooth.  We also did a roof and paint.  None of the other projects were as easy going as the Windows which is why I suggest and recommend this company for your window and door needs.  Here's a few points is like to touch on.

On time all the time.  If there were any delays, I was notified well in advance.
the install was very clean and neat. The installers were polite and worked very hard to make sure I was fully satisfied.
the manufacturer TM was involved at the end for minor services and that has also gone very smooth.
Pricing was very competitive. We paid a bit more but we surly received price of mind.

We're so happy with our decision and it was a pleasure to work with ASP Windows and Doors

Roofing questions, answered by experts

No, you should not close or cover your gable vents in the winter. While it might seem logical to block cold air, heating your home creates hot air that rises and can cause condensation in the attic. If the vents are covered, this moisture becomes trapped, creating an ideal environment for mold and mildew. Keeping the gable vents open ensures proper ventilation, which helps dry out the attic, maintain even temperatures, and prevent moisture-related damage.

You can damage your shingles if you use the wrong type of paint on them. You should always use acrylic latex paint specifically formulated for shingles. Other types of paint may trap moisture, which can cause bigger problems like rot and mildew. Considering that roof replacement costs $9,100 on average, it’s definitely best to avoid making this mistake.

Besides using the right paint, remember that painting your shingles will require increased maintenance.

Yes, gable vents can let water in. That being said, this usually only occurs during extreme conditions like heavy rainfall. You can prevent water from entering through gable vents by adding a screen that traps the water before it can enter.

Generally, the term “rolled roofing” refers to MSR (mineral surface roll) roofing. This type of roofing is similar to asphalt shingles but comes in a roll that’s unraveled and installed over your roof deck. There are many types of rolled roofing, including TPO, EPDM, and modified bitumen roofing (aka torch down roofing).

A roof's ability to handle snow depends on its strength and the snow's weight, as wet snow is much heavier than dry, fluffy snow. While designs in snowy regions often allow for 35 to 50 pounds per square foot, a general guideline is that a typical roof can withstand about four feet of fresh snow, two feet of packed snow, or just one inch of ice. Factors like the roof's age, slope, and support structure also affect its capacity; newer, sloped roofs generally hold more weight than older, flat ones. Ice and ice dams add significant, dangerous weight. Because capacity varies, it is best to contact a professional roofing contractor or the original builder to determine the maximum snow load for your specific home.
