"I was completely satisfied, and the service rep (his name is Brian) even made an extra trip to my house, since eventually I smelled something foul -- whether it's a bird or a rat I can't say -- but he's dropping off some all natural air fresher bags tomorrow. He told me that I wouldn't have to hire a contractor to cut open my wall to get the dead critter out, like s a few other companies did. He said that it would decompose in about a week's time, and that it shouldn't attract any bugs, etc., -- but that I'd have to put up with the odor for a while -- about a week. Smells like I forgot the throw out the trash, but it's not unbearable. I can still sleep in my bedroom, luckily, adding some fresh fragrant flowers (gardenias) and by opening a bottle of perfume on my nightstand. Let me tell you about the money; it cost about one third of what other companies quoted me. That's a real savings!!!"

Pest Control questions, answered by experts

Through monitoring, preventative treatments, and advising on moisture control.

When woodpeckers start banging on your walls or roof, they are probably looking for insects to eat, storing nuts for winter, drilling a hole to make a nest, or communicating with other birds to establish territory or find a mate.

The size of the hole can help determine the reason for the pecking. Small irregular holes are a result of insect hunts. Acorn holes are more consistently sized and often fitted with a nut in the middle. Nest holes are large and have rounded edges. If the bird is pecking to mark its territory or attract a mate, it may leave dents rather than holes, and the noise will stop when the mating season starts in spring.

You will need to discuss with your pest control expert to know when and what to clean after the treatment. Sometimes, you may have to wait a couple of weeks for deep cleaning to avoid wiping up the treatment they applied.

However, you’ll want to wipe down any surfaces you use for food prep and eating. Before the treatment, you’ll also want to make sure that items such as pet dishes and children's toys won’t be exposed to the chemicals.

Aside from a warm, cozy place to curl up, you might wonder what attracts mice to your home. Several items attract mice, including: Birdseed Pet food Water Cereal and whole grains Food scraps from the composting bin Open trash cans High-fat and high-sugar foods Unused cars—they make great homes for chilly mice Insulation in the attic Clutter Brush from your yard, including leaves, sticks, wood, and shrubs (so mice can make nests) Overgrown trees or bushes—mice love to leap from branches onto the roof Indoor nesting materials, including cloth, paper, tissues, and toilet paper Tiny cracks in the siding or foundation

You should not squish a roach because it can spread disease, attract more roaches, and release allergens. Roaches feed on the bodies of dead roaches, making more of them come. Squashing an individual roach only kills that one, whereas boric acid powder or baking soda can kill an entire population because it travels back to the nest before dying.
