"I contacted Rapid Locksmith Pros to rekey the doors to a store we just rented out because the old tenants didn?t leave out the old keys. We were under the impression we would have to switch out the locks but was happy they were able to make us new keys keeping the same locks on the doors. Great service 5/5"

"Here is a polished version of your review: ?Mikalali did an outstanding job repairing my broken pocket door. He even went above and beyond by going to Lowe?s to pick up a part I was missing. After completing the repair, he cleaned up so thoroughly it was like he was never here. I would highly recommend him for any job you need done. Thank you, sir, for a job well done!?"

"They did a good job correcting the alignment of the doors. They were on time as scheduled and did the work quickly. I had a bi fold closet door that I asked to be installed and agreed to pay extra for that install. I was told I had the wrong size door and needed a 78'' instead of 80''. Having been through this in the past when I remolded, finding a 78" door is a custom order. Typically the 80" bi fold door is cut to size by removing a little from each end and was expecting they would do that but they did not. Not sure why that was not offered as a solution. Overall service was good, quality of the work done was very good and it took less than the 2 hours they allocated."

Locksmiths questions, answered by experts

When the temps drop, sometimes you need to thaw a lock to regain access. Options include warming the key with warm water, applying a de-icing spray, or using a hair dryer on low heat. Avoid using boiling water to prevent damage. To prevent future freezing, consider installing a cover or shield over the lock to keep water and ice out. Remember to be patient and gentle during thawing to avoid damaging the lock or key. If all else fails, consult a professional locksmith.

There are many types of deadbolts, but these tips work on most. First, address any grime buildup. A bit of WD-40 will loose up rust and dirt so the deadbolt can turn. Inspect the door and frame alignment if this doesn't resolve the issue. Adjust the strike plate or the deadbolt's position to improve alignment. If the problem persists, disassemble the lock to inspect for damaged or worn parts. If you are unsure how to do it, hire a local locksmith.

You might want to change a door lock entry code for a handful of reasons. The most common answers are extra security or a forgotten code. You may also find yourself in a position where you need to temporarily change the code to allow a guest to come and go freely but want to switch it back once things return to normal.

Rekeying door locks yourself costs a fraction of what you would expect to pay a locksmith. On average, it costs between $50 to $100 to hire a local locksmith to rekey your house, though labor costs may vary based on where you live. For a DIY solution, you can expect to spend $11 to $25 on a rekeying kit.

When you take a key to a hardware store or a locksmith for copying, you can expect the key-cutting process to take as little as 30 seconds. The key copier will review your current key to decide on the correct blank. Then, your original key and the blank are inserted into a key duplication machine to cut an exact key copy. When it’s all said and done, you can have a new key in your hand in just a couple of minutes.
