"JC Painting did an awesome job with the exterior painting of our home. They were very professional and made sure when the job was done, that everything was put back in place. I would highly recommend them and I would definitely use their services again. Thank you Mr. Perez"

"Don't hesitate to hire them. Highly professional. Hire them to repaint the whole house and baseboards. Top Notch - attention to the details (i.e. painting behind outlets). They filled holes in the wall professionally. Nice people, very clean work. Decent price. Highly recommended and I am very picky so take my word."

"I contacted this company because they were doing my next door neighbor?s exterior painting. And i?m more than happy about that decision. They did the interior of my home which i was really worried about it since we had new floors, but i was so impressed that the covered the whole house even the areas that weren?t going to be painted. It was a great experience , clean and professional job , thank you guys!"

"Jerome did an amazing job! He is professional, easy to communicate with and very detailed. You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work. His pricing is extremely reasonable with is quality of work he does. When I had a few delays, he was understanding of it and worked around my crazy schedule. While painting he made sure everything was covered so the paint didn’t stain anything. He’s very knowledgeable and walked around the property with me and explained everything. He did repairs that were needed prior to painting that any other person probably would of just painted over. I’m very happy with his service and I will be calling him back for my interior painting."

Painting questions, answered by experts

You can apply stain over peeling stain, but it’s not a good idea. Your old stain will get in the way of your new stain bonding to the wood, so you’re likely going to see the same issue again shortly after application. Your best option is to sand off the old stain and clean the surface thoroughly before applying new stain.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

If it rains after you paint your fence, you may need to apply another coat of paint after the fence thoroughly dries. This will ensure a good seal if the rain weakened any areas of the paint. However, if your paint had enough time to dry thoroughly before it rained, you should have no problem.

Staining or sealing a cedar deck or fence is highly recommended to extend its lifespan and protect it from the elements. While cedar is naturally resistant to mold and mildew, it is not impervious to damage from moisture, sun exposure, splintering, fading, and rot over time. Applying a protective finish creates a shield that preserves the wood's strength and appearance, potentially extending its life by five to 10 years.

When choosing a finish, it's helpful to understand the difference between a sealer and a stain. A sealer sits on top of the wood, whereas a combination stain and sealer soaks into the top layer. Because it penetrates the wood, a stain generally offers better protection against UV damage and rot and lasts significantly longer. For the best results that also preserve the wood's natural color, consider using a near-translucent stain.

To maintain protection, plan on reapplying the stain or sealer every two to three years, either as a DIY project or by hiring a professional.

Moisture and rot are the largest threat to wooden fences. Stain can help your wood fence last 15 to 20 years, but only if you choose a stain with waterproofing qualities or add a sealant. Oil-based stains create a thicker moisture barrier than water-based stains, though both are mold and mildew resistant. You’ll generally need to re-stain your fence every one to eight years to get full protection.
