"Job went extremely well. Victor carefully removed floor tiles and 1 level of wall tile being extra careful to preserve existing wall tile. He guided us on how much floor and wall tile we had to select & purchase. During this phase, he came to our condo at each request to ensure we bought correct type and amount of tiles. He wonderfully raised the floor of the shower (unexpected) and created the drainage slope. Then expertly installed all the new tiles! Shower floor looks great and the water drains like it's supposed to. If not for raising the floor, entire job would have taken 4 days."

"Manny and his assistant were very professional, thorough, and worked neatly. Their work is top-notch. They wasted almost no tile. They were prompt and met all deadlines quickly. They are definitely in my book for tile work. As a realtor and property manager you can be assured I will recommend them to everyone I know."

"I hired Mark and his guys to install crown molding in a couple rooms and the results were amazing. I had previously went with another contractor for a previous project and the joints of the trim didn't line up and had gaps. Mark's work is spot on! The joints are all aligned. My friends comment all the time on how good the crown makes the house look."

"We have hired Precision Pro Painting for several projects, and they have done an excellent job every time. They first helped us move a wall, which included removing the old wall, framing the new one, installing drywall, leaving space for electrical, and then perfectly texturing and painting the finished area. We later brought them back to install baseboards throughout the house, and the quality of their work was just as impressive. Most recently, they completed a full bathroom remodel for us. Their work is consistently high quality, professional, and detail oriented. They truly offer much more than painting, and we highly recommend them."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Using caulk is one of the simplest and most recommended methods to finish glass tile edges. It creates an elegant seam between the glass tile and the adjacent area, along with a waterproof seal. With this method, you want to use a caulk color that matches the grout and, along with the grout, compliments the tile. Make sure the caulk line is smooth and even. Alternatively, you can use a bullnose or tile trimming to edge, however, that will also require caulk to seal.

Terracotta tile is a broad term for clay tile that’s been fired in a kiln, and Saltillo tile is a specific type of terracotta tile produced in Saltillo, Mexico. In addition to Saltillo, terracotta tile comes in a range of other shades and styles. You’ll often find it used in buildings throughout Mexico, southern Europe, and the western United States.

You can technically install tile over tile, but we don’t suggest it. Installing tile over any surface that isn’t a completely flat and prepared subfloor will result in a shoddy overall job, uneven flooring, tiles that don’t adhere, extra weight, gaps, cracks, and room for moisture and dirt to enter. For the best results, only install new tile on a flat, sanded surface like subflooring or concrete that is prepared for tile.

If you have asbestos tile and would rather tile over it than remove it, or if your existing tile is completely flat and bonded tightly to the floor, you may be able to tile over existing tile. But experts recommend thinking twice before you do.

As long as you follow the instructions on your peel-and-stick tile packaging, it should not damage your walls. A possible instance when you may accidentally damage your walls is if you install tiles improperly using additional adhesives that aren’t recommended.

Also, you can damage your walls if you’re not careful when removing tile. For example, you could accidentally make holes in the drywall with a paint scraper if you don’t heat the adhesive long enough before trying to pry it off.

On average, tiling a bathroom involves about 12 hours of labor, usually spread over two to three days to accommodate prep work and curing times. A professional tiler can often complete the installation in 6 to 8 hours, whereas a DIYer might take 10 to 16 hours. The total project time is influenced by factors like the bathroom layout, tile type, and necessary prep work, such as removing old tile. The process includes specific timelines for different areas; for example, tiling a floor takes about six hours, while a shower area can take six to ten hours. It is essential to allow for adequate curing time—typically 24 hours each—for the mortar, grout, and caulk, which is why the project extends over several days.
