"Fernando installed huge tile. Each piece was 2 feet by 4 feet. He did a superior job laying it on a fireplace about 9 feet high and my foyer."

"My experience hiring Mark the owner of MP Professional of Florida LLC was great. Mark is a very easy going, understandable, knowledgeable and cooperative person to work with. It was like a one stop shop because although only hired for exterior house painting this company has the resources to do so much more and they did. Within a weeks time of the initial job of exterior paint we ended up with full exterior paint ??, Full interior paint of a 7bdrm house?? after opening walls in key areas to remove and replace rotted framing and drywall??, they knocked out a wall for an entirely new open concept kitchen ??, they built a huge custom designed island & one of kind money saving counter tops??, installed an entire 7bdrms+ of new flooring(not carpet)??, they did various plumbing & electrical upgrades??, I got a two car garage makeover ?? and they power washed the concrete driveway and sidewalk.?? After all was said and done they even gave my wife and I a good quote to refresh all the bathrooms. Great family business that we will definitely be taking up on the offer to complete our bathrooms and a bonus major project that was proven on paper the company has the ability to accomplish. They are a great company for house flippers due to the ability to source resources and their various licensed & qualified pro technicians. I give MP Professional of Florida LLC five5 stars and recommend them for everyone’s home project/repair needs."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

No, when done correctly, removing the tile shouldn’t damage the subfloor. However, if there was pre-existing damage to the subfloor from standard use or lack of maintenance, the subfloor may need repairs. For example, if the contractors notice mold growth on the subfloor or an uneven surface, you may need more extensive services before installing new tile.

If you DIY tile removal, remove the tiles one step at a time, individually removing the tile, grout, and mortar to prevent unnecessarily damaging the subfloor. Depending on the age of your home, consider having a professional inspect the subfloor to ensure it’s in good enough condition to lay new tile.

It’s best to start with tiling the shower floor before moving on to the walls for the most visually-pleasing results. When taking on any tiling project, you’ll want the wall tiles to “sit” neatly on the floor tiles rather than overlapping them. Finishing your floor tiles first will allow you to place your wall tiles without any gaps, holes, or awkward intersections.

There are several low-maintenance shower floor tiles to consider for your bathroom. Stone tiles are easy to keep clean and only need an occasional resealing to keep them looking their best. Porcelain is another low-maintenance choice, as it doesn’t stain easily. Vinyl is also suitable for easy upkeep. On the other hand, one of the highest maintenance options for bathrooms is wood tile.

Mortar and thinset both serve the same purpose—tile adhesion—but have different compositions and use-cases. Thinset is heatproof and presents a wide range of possibilities due to the added polymers. Mortar is typically used for bonding stones and brick. Thinset is rarely used outside, while mortar is rarely used inside.

Penny tile should be sealed to protect the grout from moisture and keep stains from damaging the look of the tile. If penny tile is in a humid or high-traffic area, like a bathroom, kitchen, or entryway, it needs sealant. Any type of tile and grout is best maintained with a sealant reapplied by a pro every one to two years.
