"I’m very pleased with the work Jax Home Services performed when compare with some other area contractors which either were astronomically expensive or couldn’t start for months or were late for showing up to inspect my home. Joe Miller from JHS was always on time, extremely professional, his crews cleaned up completely after their jobs and the work is top notch. I’ve used Jax Home Services three times now, I shopped around each time but they can’t be beat for the quality, cost and professionalism. They don’t try to oversell but instead work with me to improve on ideas I have and still stay on budget and on time. GREAT JACKSONVILLE BUSINESS! Thank you Jax Home Services!"

"As before, I am grateful that the leak was a VERY small one, that we saw it right away and that we called Dave right away. Dave takes customer service very serious as evidenced by the fact that he was the one who insisted on attending to the leak as soon as possible for us.

Thank you and yes, I will continue to recommend DS Killian Roof & General Contractors Inc!"

"The process was very easy I used Angie's list picked the top 3 painters and got bids. All the contractors were very competent and the bids were all within a few hundred dollars. Mr.Wolf was punctual and provided a written bid the same day, the process was well explained and option pros and cons reviewed. The selling point for me was in two business days he was able too start. His crew was very experienced and still he was on site everyday for the majority of the day supervising and assisting. I know I put price as a concern (B), I hadn't had the house painted in ten years and the cost had tripled. however, we did use above average materials and that was pricey, but at my request. The prep on our home with all its age was a lot they really worked hard scrapping and priming. The contract called for two coats of paint but if an area needed it they applied a third coat. Bottom line ,if I had a problem I would speak with Mr. Wolf and it was handled, communication always key. This is a solid company and I like Mr. Wolf's attention to detail attitude.

"Excellent. I received a call from this company within twenty minutes of registering on Angie's list. They came out the next day and gave me a price. Due to inclement weather, they didn't start the job until two days later. They finished in the time quoted and went over and above in the service they provided. Would definitely recommend them and use them again.1,000"

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Metal stud framing parts include the studs themselves, upper and lower tracks that act as top and bottom wall plates, various angle fasteners and clips, screws for fastening pieces togeher, metal straps, c-channel supports, and thicker steel supporting structures. Roof framing metal components include pre-fabricated trusses, heavy-gauge stud pieces, and various plates and fasteners.

One of the most common house framing basics for decades has been using wood for the framing work. However, some framing contractors now suggest using steel frames. Steel is lightweight, resistant to fire, and resistant to moisture, all of which are areas where wood framing could cause problems. However, steel framing is more expensive than wood and limits your ability to insulate the home.

It’s best to use two screws to secure deck boards into every joist. Securing the boards to every joist makes the deck more structurally sound, while using two screws on the outer sides of the boards can help prevent warping and cupping.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.

Learning how to frame a house includes picking the right lumber for the job. Most people will want to pick pine, spruce, or fir for the framing. These types of lumber are affordable and produce sturdy framing for structures. Look for kiln-dried lumber to reduce the risk of shrinkage or insect damage after installation. As part of what’s included in framing a house when you hire a professional, the contractor should order the lumber, so you don’t have to worry about finding the right lumber.
