"I requested a bid to resurface the pool, install a new pool light, and reseal all 3 patio pavers. After all bids were in I chose Ronny's because the price was not low and not high with a welcomed veteran's discount. Each stage of the pool resurfacing was done by skilled professionals with dedicated attitudes toward workmanship. The same with the paver resealers. I was extremely impressed with Ronny, his company employees, and the finished product."

"

At the beginning of the week our air conditioner started to cycle on and off all the time.  It was clear that there was a problem.  The system is not quite 3 years old and didn't expect a problem but of course you never do.  I looked on Angie's List and called Morris AC and made an appointment for the upcoming Thursday.  I spoke with John and mentioned I had the Angie's List coupon.  John (a different John) came on time as scheduled on Thursday morning.  He diagnosed the problem to be most likely the power supply module. He quoted me a price for it which was under warranty from Carrier but there was still labor charges.

Since I can't do the work myself and know nothing about this I agreed to the service since John was able to get the part the same day and have my unit up and running.  John came back later in the day and installed the new power supply module and the AC was working again.

My only concern which I have no way of researching now is was the labor charges fair.  Having paid for a coupon through Angie's List for $55, I basically committed myself to Morris AC. That is not the concern, but since the coupon entitled me to $50 off my service, was that charge raised to cover a discount.  If not, then since the part was covered under warranty, then my labor charges were over $100/hr.  That's because the total time spent in the home was about 2 hours.

Overall I am pleased with everything but feel I overpaid somewhat.

"3D Solar did a great job removing and then reinstalling 34 solar panels. My original installer quoted an outrageous amount so I went looking for a new Solar company. 3D Solar was recommended by a reputable solar consultant. I spoke with David Ringo at length and we had a great conversation about many topics as well as solar. The crews were on time, professional and conscientious and super nice. David's quote was less than half the price even when I told him what my original installer was about to charge and very reasonable considering the amount of work involved. The reinstallation was very good, even better than the original install by another company. They used updated mounting hardware and did a tidy job with cable management. 3D Solar sent out crews right away to sort out a small technical issue with the inverter that became apparent after installation. They were able to diagnose and correct the issue. I am particularly impressed with the fast and effective follow up service. I am pleased to recommend 3D Solar for installation or maintenance of solar systems."

"I had a thirty-year-old pool that needed a complete facelift. I solicited several bids. The estimator for Custom Pools & Remodelling arrived, discussed the options for what I wanted done, and prepared an estimate. I subsequently negotiated on the price of the acrylic deck/lanai coating and was given a better price. The attitudes of the estimator and the business owner and the willingness to negotiate and to reach a fair price, even though it was not the lowest bid, helped me make the decision to go with them. I was told that all the work could be completed in 10 working days or less.

We set the date for work to begin. I had not received a call by the end of the week before the begin date to confirm and so I called the business number. It was answered by a female family member who took messages on two occasions. I got a call back from the owner, Shannon Stevens, on the day the construction was to begin. He told me that construction would begin the next day.

The next day, crew members arrived about 9:00 AM and began work on the deck/lanai preparation. They thoroughly pressure washed and then applied the initial coat of sealer. The crew worked hard all day, and there was no slacking off. Very professional! The following day, another crew arrived to drain the pool and to begin work preparing the interior surface. They had to cut out a section with a piece of deteriorating re-bar, replace it, and re-concrete it. They then worked to prepare the surface, including blast washing, digging under the edge tile that was to remain, and generally prepare for other work. That crew was exceptionally hard-working and professional. They knew what they were doing, worked efficiently as a team, and did not slack off at all. They were terrific.

The work continued with pouring the new Wet-Edge finish and applying it smoothly in all areas. They feathered the mixture with the edge tiles that was remaining and made it perfect. They also replaced the pool drain and worked with the mounting of the existing pool light to make sure they were installed correctly. They then began refilling the pool, and this was to done without interruption until the next day. Shannon came back to personally add appropriate chemicals, provide instructions for brushing, and to provide loaner of an automatic pool sweeper. I began a daily brushing down of the interior surface of the pool, which was to continue while the coating cured for 30 days. I also opened the filter chamber and rinsed the filter two times during that period.
A crew returned two times to apply the acrylic coating to the deck and lanai, and they did a good job with that work too,

The contract called for Shannon to return to provide "Pool 101" instruction. That never really happened, and telephone contact these next few weeks were difficult. After two weeks and no additional start-up contact or chemical treatment, I noticed algae growing on the pool walls. I called to ask Shannon to set a time to come by for "Pool 101" and to adjust the chemicals. Again, the person answering the phone is a family member and it's not a professional business phone service. Shannon finally called and told me that there is a  Pool Owner's Manual at their website (a PDF file) but it returns a 404 Not Found message. He had provided a water testing kit to me, and I used it to draw water samples and tale them to the nearby Pinch A Penny for testing. He suggested that I but a couple of gallons of chlorine and add those to stop the algae. He said there would be no problem with doing that and that it wouldn't hurt the pool surface while in curing mode.

Shannon did stop by to check the chemicals on the third week, and to pick up his loaner pool cleaner. (I had replaced his with my own cleaner and it worked more effectively to cover the bottom  and the walls of the pool.) He also had located two specially mounting automatic door closers for the pool cages two screen doors, and he installed those. He left the receipt and I sent his a check for that amount.

Overall I am very pleased with the quality of the materials and the work ethic of the crew members. They showed up when they said they would, were always hard-working and professional, and they did an excellent job. With the exception of the problems with the 30-day start-up period, I think the job went very well. The pool and the area around it look brand new, crisp, and inviting. I definitely think that the value I received for the money was worth every penny. Shannon Stevens is friendly, professional, and is on-site to make sure the job is done correctly. I just think he is overwhelmed with work projects and that was the primary reason our "Pool 101" didn't happen. However, I'm seeking that information elsewhere and am resuming the commercial weekly pool chemical service I've used for many years.

Install Above Ground Pools questions, answered by experts

Routine pool and spa service transforms your backyard into a reliable retreat during intense Brandon summers. Clean, well-functioning water provides essential heat mitigation when temperatures soar. Proper maintenance also prevents stagnant water, directly reducing mosquito breeding grounds around your property. Additionally, a balanced pool helps lower the moisture load around your home's exterior, significantly improving your daily comfort in this highly humid subtropical climate.

Helpful?

Plan your pool and spa service between October and February to avoid the peak spring and summer demand in Brandon. You must hire licensed professionals and secure proper permits for structural repairs or equipment replacements. Additionally, consider local soil conditions. Sandy, karst-influenced soils cause shifting and settling over time. If you spot new cracks in your pool shell, demand a full structural assessment rather than a simple patch.

Helpful?

Schedule pool and spa service immediately after a heavy tropical storm or when the Brandon rainy season begins in June. Heavy rain dramatically dilutes your water chemistry and introduces organic debris. You must also call a professional if you notice green or cloudy water, which develops rapidly in the Florida heat. Unexplained water level drops or sudden spikes in your utility bills indicate a leak requiring prompt attention.

Helpful?

Prioritize safety during pool and spa service by verifying your drain covers meet federal anti-entrapment standards. You must also store all pool chemicals in a secure, well-ventilated area away from children, as extreme FL heat accelerates dangerous chemical reactions. Ensure your pool barrier features a self-closing, self-latching gate to protect pets and kids. Finally, time your maintenance to minimize downtime during peak summer heat.

Helpful?

Watch for recurring calcium scaling or gray stains on your tile lines, as FL hard water requires precise chemical balancing. If green or mustard algae returns quickly in our hot, humid climate, the previous pool and spa service was insufficient. You should also inspect deck caulking and grout. Intense UV rays and heavy afternoon thunderstorms cause these materials to crack and fail, requiring a professional replacement to protect your investment.
