"Septic tank was not draining properly into the drain field because the filter was clogged. I called at 8:30am and they were there by 9:15am to pump the tank and replace the filter. The technician was great and offered to upgrade my filter to one that will not require cleaning every 6-months (which is quite excessive). I took the upgrade for an extra $50.00. The tech finished the job efficiently and overall, did a wonderful job. I will call these guys the next time I need anything done with my septic tank."

"C&B Plumbing did great work. I thought we had a much bigger issue with our plumbing than we ended up having. They made sure to check all the boxes and verify that we did not have a leak, all while making sure to be as minimally invasive on our walls and plumbing as possible. They were very courteous and quick to respond. We will definitely be hiring them again for potential future issues!"

"Takes for ever to get a return a call. Also took a week to get someone out for repairs. They said they would reimburse me for septic repairs and it took over 3 months for that to happen."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

A septic tank riser should extend to just above the ground level or slightly above it. The exact height can vary depending on local regulations and personal preferences, but a common guideline is to have the riser's top flush with or no more than a few inches above the surrounding ground. This height allows for easy access to the septic tank without creating a tripping hazard or obstructing mowing and landscaping activities. It's essential to ensure that the riser lid is easily visible and accessible for regular maintenance and inspection while being mindful of safety and aesthetics.

Yes! Toilet paper can be flushed if you use a septic tank. While unique toilet papers designed to be used with septic tanks are available, many people have no problem flushing regular toilet paper with a septic tank, so long as you don’t flush too much toilet paper all at once. Do not flush any type of baby wipes or bathroom wipes, even if they say “flushable.”

There are a lot of issues that can cause a septic tank to collapse. Those include failing to regularly pump or service it every three to five years, placing too much weight atop the system—by parking your car on top of it or because of a heavy snow buildup for instance—or because of structural damage done by overgrown tree roots.

Since vinegar is a weak acid with a pH of two to three, it’s generally safe for septic systems. It won’t eat away at the good bacteria in your septic tank and can help break down the sludge, which is its bottom layer. However, like with everything in life, moderation is key.

Trenches are typically 12 to 24 inches deep and 8 inches wide. However, the required depth depends on the specific project and local ordinances. For example, a French drain may need to be 18 inches deep, while a water pipe might require a depth of 24 inches and a drainage pipe 36 inches. Your city or county may have specific regulations, so it's wise to consult with an excavation professional to determine the correct depth for your project.
