"Tim Stone was professional from minute one. There's always a rush from tree companies to just "cut 'er down" but Tim took the time to examine each tree we were concerned about and strategically found a solution to make them sound. A true arborist."

"Excellent experience. Arrived promptly with pleasant crew who understood job. Removed several branches from a silver maple in backyard and had all of the appropriate machinery and talent when climbing was required. Cleaned up everything after they chipped the wood and even checked my neighbors yard/driveway. Highly recommend this company to anyone looking for excellent value and service. J. "I would recommend LA's Quality Tree Service to anyone who wants a professional tree service After the blow of high winds left our yard with one 80 foot tree uprooted and crashing down on two other smaller trees and numerous other tree damage. Luis came out with in an hour after calling his company. Gave a very fair price. The crew came out the next day and started the clean up. They were on time every morning and worked two full days. Cutting down six trees (25' to 80') Lots of downed branches (some 25' long and about 18" thick) and grinded the tree stump. The whole crew was professional, cleaned up every evening. Thankful we found LA's Quality Tree Service."

Tree Service questions, answered by experts

For trimming trees, your best tool is a pair of pruning shears or loppers. Both options work best for branches that are under 3 inches in diameter. Trimming trees with a larger diameter may require a robust tool like a small chainsaw or a handsaw, so take into account your tree’s diameter when deciding between tools.

Often, it’s the homeowner’s responsibility to handle the aftermath when a neighbor’s tree falls on their property. But if a tree has been obviously dead for a significant period of time and caused damage when it fell, a case can be made that the owner should have removed it, especially if the neighbor wrote you a letter about the tree or asked you to take it down. This can be grounds for a successful lawsuit in claims court and is a good reason to always pay attention to your trees and remove dead trees before they fall.

You’ll have to balance up the cost, the value of the tree (sentimental or otherwise), and the risk factors. An experienced arborist will help you understand whether transplanting is likely to be successful. The cost and hassle of transplanting a large, well-established tree are often not worth it, especially if the species is fast-growing and easy to source. The decision depends on the age and species of the tree, the conditions in the new site location, and how careful the company is when digging out and moving the tree.

Since overwatering can harm mature trees just as much as a lack of water, it’s important to know the signs of an overwatered tree. If your tree’s leaves are yellowing, wilting, or dropping leaves, it’s likely that you’re overwatering. Other common signs include rotting, fungi, soggy soil, soft or peeling bark, falling leaves, and brittle roots.

If you realize that you’ve been overwatering your mature tree, stop watering and give the soil time to dry out. Then moving forward, increase time between watering sessions.

In most cases, your neighbor is responsible for roots from their tree that cause damage to your property. If your pavement, the foundation of your home, or a fence is damaged by roots from a neighbor’s tree, you likely will have legal recourse for financial relief. While it’s better to notify your neighbor of any problems you notice as soon as they arise to avoid costly damage, there are some instances where filing a civil suit is your only recourse. Your homeowner’s insurance company might wish to do so on your behalf if you file a claim.
