"Tile Pro did an awesome job start to finish. Tiled entrance way and kitchen with beautiful porcelain tile after taking up old wood and tile. Also installed backsplash and tiled island. Returned and tiled fire place surround as my afterthought. They will be Remodeling master bath soon. Always On time, professional and on schedule. Family friendly attitude was also a great attribute!"

"I hired First State Bath for converting a bath tub to a walk-in shower. I feel so thankful to them from introduction through job completing. They listened carfully to my requests and proposed a small suggestion, but it turned out very special to my need. It was choice of 54" long instead of 60". It adds space for easy moving in the bathroom. It might have no impact to most people, but is very helpful and special in my situation. The project is worked out very well with on time, clean and high quality. They did great job at very reasonable cost."

"Excellent work for a great price. I hired FSB after consulting two other contractors and an interior designer. FSB had the best ideas for my master bath remodel ( tub replacement, flooring, cabinet and counter install, and toilet replacement. The work was done on time and in a very professional manner."

"I would highly recommend D&C Bath LLC. I wanted my bathroom remodeled with the tub converted to a shower only. I was terrified going into this process as I'd heard horror stories from family & friends who used other contactors for there bathroom projects. None, were willing to recommend their contractor which made this process more unnerving. One person had stated they used Angi's list for some of their home projects & was happy with the work, so I decided to give it a try. The first contractor I called didn't answer. As I was reaching out to the next contractor (D&C Bath), they were also reaching out to me & was able to set me up with an appointment immediately. I had no ideas about the overall look or design. The owner was very patient, walked me though ideas; gave recommendation; and, was very responsive to all my questions & concerns. His team was very efficient. They cleaned up every day before leaving; asked questions to clarify what I wanted; let me know daily where the project stood in regards of competition; and, tried to make sure there was minimal inconvenience to me by ensuring I had a working towelette the end of each day, throughout the project. Once the project was completed, I noticed small droplets of water under my vanity. I reached out & they took care of it immediately the next day. I found out they will be doing kitchen's also, and will definitely hire them again for my next project!"

"Blackburn Refinishing is phenomenal! James is very responsive and his attention to detail and pride in his work are incredible. We had our bathroom glazed 2 years ago. It still looks fantastic but wear and tear with 3 sons....the shower was cracking and peeling. James scheduled an appointment with me as soon as I called him and made all the repairs. It looks amazing AND he said it was under warranty and would not charge me for anything. I am so impressed! I highly recommend Blackburn to anyone considering a makeover at a fraction of the cost of a total bathroom redesign."

Kitchen and Bathroom Remodel questions, answered by experts

How much room you need for a roll-in shower depends on your goals and the specifications of your shower. Most roll-in showers require at least 60-by-30 inches of space, and at least 60-by-60 inches is best for comfort and maneuverability. When planning the size of your roll-in shower, consider your needs for comfort and additional installations, such as benches and grab bars, that can make the space tighter.

Whether it’s better to add a bathroom to an upstairs or downstairs floor will depend on the home’s layout and your needs. Powder rooms and guest bathrooms are commonly on lower levels, while primary bathrooms are upstairs. When deciding, consider where the bedrooms are located and where your family spends the most time. If you don't have a bathroom in the basement but use the space, adding a bathroom there could be a great option.

A powder room cannot have a bath. If it had a bath, it would likely be considered a three-quarter bath or full bath, depending on the other features. You might hear the term “powder room” used to describe a bathroom used by guests, but it wouldn’t technically be a powder room. However, powder rooms or half baths are ideal for guests because they can use it without entering the more private areas of the home.

The general rule of thumb regarding how much to spend on remodeling your home is not to exceed 30% of the value of your property for the remodel budget. For example, if your house is worth $350,000, the 30% rule suggests that you shouldn’t spend more than $105,000 on the remodel.

There are a few things you can do to keep your bathroom remodel as affordable as possible in your mobile home:

  • Ask your contractor to replace caulk and grout rather than retiling

  • Ask your professional to refinish your tub/shower rather than replacing

  • Upgrade your sink fixtures rather than replacing the sink

  • Upgrade cabinet hardware and ask your remodeler to refinish the cabinets

  • Avoid changing the layout of your bathroom
