"We needed our master bathroom floor tiled and wanted large tiles used . Fran was the only guy to come and take a look at the job and chat with us about the job. It allowed us to put a face with a name and discuss the project and what we wanted and what was the best way to accomplish it . Fran and his associate James were kind , professional and hard working. They did a great job and I will definitely be hiring them again for my other bathroom that needs a lot more TLC. Fran also gave a very competitive price that wound up also being the best quote we got. Jackie"

"CT Home Improvement LLC is a fantastic company for all your home improvement needs. They’ve done an excellent job on my home—installing new flooring, a kitchen, ceilings, insulation, backsplash, and plumbing. Their work is high-quality, and the team is professional and reliable. Best of all, their pricing is fair and transparent. They completed the entire project on time and stayed on schedule. Their customer service was outstanding—always responsive, respectful, and willing to answer all my questions. I highly recommend them!"

"Plow and Property has completed several projects for us on a very old and neglected rental property and we are so glad we found them. The first job was a vacant house clean out. The house was left in truly appalling condition. The cleaning crew worked and worked and worked so hard and so long I was telling them to stop. They made a filthy house fresh and pleasant again. I would not have thought it could be restored to such a fresh condition. The next job was replacing the old casement windows which were rotted wood frames in crumbly 1950â s cement. They not only repaired the window foundation area but other foundation ugly spots as well and put in beautiful new sturdy basement sliding windows. They also re-dug and replaced the adjoining window wells which were undoubtedly the original wells and were falling apart. Regraded the foundation area around the wells and reseeded without being asked. While they were in the basement doing the windows they cleaned a bunch of that up too so itâ s no longer a horror movie waiting to be filmed down there. Everything they did was simply above and beyond. Wesley Vercosa has returned my many questions and concerns with lots of information and smiles, bless him. My retired husband worked in construction for many years and he is happy and impressed with the work. We are planning more work with them already."

Backsplash Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can tile a shower as a DIY project, and you can save hundreds of dollars in labor costs by doing so. However, you’ll need to rent or buy quite a few tools and supplies for the job, including a saw, tile nippers, and a new shower pan. In terms of the work itself, you should be prepared to tackle a variety of different tasks, including measuring and ordering materials, removing old tile, waterproofing the wall, adding rows of tile, grouting, and more.

Thinset mortar is the best adhesive for ceramic tiles on concrete. It is easy to work with and has a slower dry time than mastic or epoxy mortars. This longer dry time gives the installer more time to adjust tiles, which is especially useful for DIYers who may not have tile installation experience. It can also be built up to help level any depressions or gaps in the concrete subfloor.

The lifespan of tile flooring can vary significantly based on the material and maintenance. Generally, tile flooring can last anywhere from 10 to 30 years, but high-quality, well-maintained ceramic tile can last 75 to 100 years. To achieve a longer lifespan, you should clean the tiles and grout regularly, reseal the grout annually, keep the floor dry, and avoid placing extremely heavy items on it to prevent cracking. Choosing a high-quality tile (Grade 1) will also contribute to its longevity.

Whether you use a brush or roller depends on the size, shape, and amount of tiles. Rollers are easier to maneuver over large areas and can apply a more even coat of paint in a shorter time frame with no visible brushstrokes. Brushes are best for precision work, particularly in very small areas. If you don't want visible brushstrokes on your painted tiles, you can paint details with small foam brushes instead of bristled paint brushes.

Tiles last for around 100 years or more. Tiles on backsplashes can last even longer since they’re less likely to crack under foot traffic or from accidental drops, but even tile in high-traffic flooring can last a century or more with proper installation and upkeep. Porcelain tiles are denser and stronger than standard ceramic tiles, so they’ll last longer, often pushing past the 100-year mark.
