"My husband and I highly recommend Jeremy. We had power issues and Jeremy walked us through everything that was going on. He went over the pricing and stuck to it. He is quick to respond to communication. We are very happy with the work he and Austin did to correct and upgrade our electric service. We will definitely be using him for future electricity needs and recommend him highly!"

"I have used Supreme Electric for a variety of electrical services for over 2 years â replacing outlets to support new wall A/C units, replacing a damaged outlet, replacing a light fixture, upgrading my circuit panel and most recently installing a bathroom ventilation fan another electrician said could not be done. I was also provided assistance finding a carpenter to vent the fan out of my attic and I am considering future installation of a generator. Michael is always pleasant, professional and respectful and the quality of work is excellent. He explains exactly what is needed, prices are reasonable, he communicates clearly and promptly as work is being planned and he is always on time for scheduled work. I highly recommend Supreme Electric. It is always a pleasure to work with Michael and I personally will only be using Supreme Electric for any future electrical work I need to have done. Thank you Michael!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If you notice flickering lights during storms, frequent breaker trips, or any burning odors from outlets, your Southington home may need updated electrical work. Outdated wiring types, such as knob-and-tube, or missing GFCI protection in kitchens and basements, are red flags. Electrical work completed without permits or visible signs of DIY repairs also suggest it’s time for a professional inspection.

Helpful?

For minor electrical safety tasks in Southington, you can replace a faulty outlet or light switch after turning off the breaker and double-checking for power. Testing GFCI outlets monthly is especially important due to local moisture concerns. Resetting a tripped breaker is safe, but for any wiring changes, panel work, or projects that might require permits, it’s best to contact a licensed professional.

Helpful?

In Southington, install tamper-resistant outlet covers to protect young children, and consider arc fault circuit interrupters for added electrical safety. Place outlets higher in play areas and use cord organizers to keep wires out of reach of pets. For homes with outdoor living spaces, weatherproof outlets and covers help prevent moisture hazards, especially during the region’s frequent freeze-thaw cycles.

Helpful?

In Southington, unexpected costs can arise from required electrical panel upgrades, permit or inspection fees, and the need to update older wiring to current safety codes. Weather delays, especially for outdoor projects, may extend timelines. Homes in historic neighborhoods sometimes require special materials or extra precautions, so it’s wise to plan for contingencies and consult multiple local professionals before starting any electrical project.

Helpful?

In Southington, overloading outlets with space heaters during cold snaps or plugging multiple appliances into older wiring can stress your home’s electrical system. Using extension cords as permanent solutions, neglecting to test GFCI outlets in damp basements, and leaving outdoor outlets exposed to freeze-thaw cycles all accelerate wear. Seasonal humidity swings and ice buildup can also cause corrosion and hidden water damage in home wiring.
