"Jeremy sent his colleague Austin to my home a day after I first made contact with JMP Electric to fix the cooked breakers in my electrical panel. Austin arrived at the time Jeremy had specified over the phone and promptly got to work removing and inspecting the breaker blocks. In under 2 hours, Austin had my breaker box buttoned up and running with fresh breakers. That's some excellent service if you'd ask me. Thanks again, men! -Chris"

"This was by far the best contractor experience I’ve had in many years. Rob is friendly, knowledgeable and professional. He was able to work within my budget and kept me informed during every stage of the process. My generator was ordered and installed in only one week, which was also very impressive. I would highly recommend Buckley & Son Electrical Contractors."

"I have used Supreme Electric for a variety of electrical services for over 2 years â replacing outlets to support new wall A/C units, replacing a damaged outlet, replacing a light fixture, upgrading my circuit panel and most recently installing a bathroom ventilation fan another electrician said could not be done. I was also provided assistance finding a carpenter to vent the fan out of my attic and I am considering future installation of a generator. Michael is always pleasant, professional and respectful and the quality of work is excellent. He explains exactly what is needed, prices are reasonable, he communicates clearly and promptly as work is being planned and he is always on time for scheduled work. I highly recommend Supreme Electric. It is always a pleasure to work with Michael and I personally will only be using Supreme Electric for any future electrical work I need to have done. Thank you Michael!!"

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In New Britain, homeowners often encounter hidden costs such as permit fees, required electrical safety upgrades, or state inspection charges during electrical projects. Older homes may need panel upgrades, asbestos remediation, or structural repairs when accessing wiring. Weather delays and utility coordination can add to project time. If your property is in a historic neighborhood, additional steps may be required to meet local home wiring standards.

Helpful?

Electrical work in New Britain can impact heating systems, sump pumps, security systems, and even internet or cable lines. Projects involving the main panel or circuits near HVAC equipment may disrupt other systems. Many homes have complex wiring from past upgrades, so before starting any electrical project, it’s wise to consult a local professional to avoid interrupting essential home wiring or safety features like interconnected smoke detectors.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in New Britain, it’s smart to keep a non-contact voltage tester, digital multimeter, wire strippers, insulated screwdrivers, and a reliable flashlight. Stock up on GFCI outlets, 15A and 20A breakers, wire nuts, electrical tape, 12 and 14 AWG wire, and junction boxes. If your home has an older fuse box, keep spare fuses. Outdoor-rated supplies are essential for New Britain’s winter weather.

Helpful?

In New Britain, main electrical panels, kitchen and bathroom outlets, basement wiring, and exterior receptacles often need attention as homes age. If your house was built before 1965, consider checking for outdated wiring. Homes from the 1960s–1980s may have aluminum wiring, which requires special care. Seasonal changes can also affect heating system wiring and outdoor lighting, so regular inspections help maintain electrical safety.

Helpful?

Signs that electrical work may need to be redone in New Britain include missing GFCI outlets in kitchens or bathrooms, improper grounding, or overcrowded panels. Watch for flickering lights, warm or discolored outlets, burning odors, or frequent breaker trips. Two-prong outlets and outdated wiring types like cloth-wrapped or aluminum wiring are common in older homes and should be reviewed by a local professional for electrical safety.
