"Williams & Associates replaced an ancient, very large old boiler in my very large house. Bruce calculated the necessary size and found a suitable boiler. He and his crew thoroughly cleared the radiators and lines before removing the old boiler and installing the new one. They checked all the radiators and added new valves as needed during a lengthy checkout. It took several days to do all the work. Throughout, Bruce explained what they were doing and why as well as recommending changes/additions to the original proposal. They were even cheerful about removing the original "Mary Jane" from the basement. I would definitely recommend them to anyone using steam heat. Great job!"

Replacing a combination boiler or standard boiler with the same system should only take four to six hours. Meanwhile, switching from a conventional boiler system to a combination boiler system could take a few days.

When winter rolls around, and you turn the heat on for the first time in a year, it’s normal to sense a light odor. This could smell a little like burning because some dust has gathered in the heating unit over the warm months and will fade away shortly after. However, there are some smells you should watch out for and take caution around: an egg-like sulfur smell or an electrical burn odor would indicate there’s something wrong. Turn it off and call a professional for maintenance as soon as possible. 

It takes about five to 10 minutes for heat to reach a radiator, then about one hour until the radiator fully heats up a room. The exact duration depends on the size of the room and how far away the radiator is from the boiler heating system. Heating up an entire house could take up to two hours.

If your boiler is 20 years old, it’s time to get a new one. Although it may seem to be working fine, it’s likely eating up more fuel than it should. Also, compared to a brand-new boiler, one that’s 20 years old is probably not working as well. When you get your new unit, you’ll notice that your home is heating more quickly, and the heat is consistent throughout all the rooms.
