"I?ve had the pleasure of using Bob on several occasions, from stretching w/w carpet, repairing my hardwood floor and just recently installing a staircase carpet runner. As always, his response was timely, offering to stop by same day to evaluate the job. As busy as he was , he fit us in within days, which gave us the opportunity to remove the existing carpet & prep the staircase for the new runner. The installation went smoothly with Bob completing the work w/in two hours, and we?re thrilled w/ the results. He?s the best ! Thanks Bob!"

"Pros from start to fantastic finish. Horacio came in and gave us an estimate we thought was such a good deal, we added a room and a stairwell carpeting and we could still afford it. He was courteous, listened to questions, and took time to answer. We told him we would get back to him after our other estimates. The national company with the phone number jingle came next. The first thing that person did was talk trash about a competitor, try to scare us that only a structural engineer could possibly handle our (lumpy, slopey) floor, and while he was coming up with an estimate number, told us "the chinamen in my tablet are taking a long time thinking about this." Generally against racism, so we knew he was out, but he scared us with his floor assessment. We called VRP back and explained our concerns, and Horacio came out AGAIN the very next day (free of charge), heard the concerns, and came up with a solution that did not increase our estimate. We scheduled right then. When the work day came, they were on time and went straight to it. They worked 8 to 3 ripping out our old carpet and installing new carpet and vinyl plank. It looks amazing!! They must have structural engineers in the family, because the "issue" the national guy tried to scare us with was no issue for them. I really couldn't be happier. I'll call them to re-do the kitchen floors when we're ready. Hire these people, you will be so happy you did. Check out the before and after of the stairs and the floor! Less"

"The two gentlemen came on time and did a very professional job. They got right to business and were able to make our bedroom area rug look like new! They also did an excellent job on our upholstery and were able to remove wine stains (from our kids), candy stains (from our grandkids), and the dog poop brought in on everyone's shoes. My wife and I are very pleased and highly recommend USA Carpet Cleaning."

"I closed on a house that had wall-to-wall carpet in most of the rooms a week before going on vacation. I contacted Five Star and Ricardo responded right away, we scheduled for him to come see the job that needed to be done (he was very punctual), and did the work while I was away and the house was still empty. I had 2 other estimates and his price was the most reasonable. Since the house was empty and some of the work had to be done at night there were some minor issues such as a few staples (literally about 5) that were not fully removed and a spot that was missed due to lack of adequate lighting. Ricardo showed up to take care of those issues himself. Ricardo was alway courteous and professional."

"I have used them for our very good woolen carpets and they were very careful and extremely thorough. It was amazing from start to finish. We never had a problem. We had no problems with making appointments and coming when they say. They worked careful without doing any damage to anything else. The results were being very satisfactory. They sell very good quality carpets and for they know how to clean them."

Carpet Stretching questions, answered by experts

Patching your carpet in damaged areas or using an industry-grade cleaner on urine spots can help remove stains and scents from your carpet. If odors linger, leave baking soda on the area overnight (dry), then vacuum it up in the morning.

Yes, carpeted stairs are generally considered safer than stairs with hard surfaces like wood, vinyl, or tile. Carpet provides more traction and friction, which helps reduce the chances of slips and falls. Additionally, if a fall does occur, carpet offers more cushioning, which can lessen the severity of an injury. While hard surfaces can look great, they are often more slippery. However, it's worth noting that some carpets, especially if they are new, dirty, or have a slick texture, can also pose a slipping hazard. To improve safety on any type of stair surface, you can add traction treads to increase grip.

There are many types of carpet repairs that you might experience in your home, depending on the activity level in your home. Snags and tears are relatively common, especially if you have pets or tend to move furniture around often. Some other carpet repairs you might need include:

  • Burn damage

  • Water damage

  • Pet damage

  • Loose carpet

  • Severe stains

It is not recommended to install or stretch a carpet without a power stretcher. Skipping essential tools like a power stretcher and a knee kicker will likely result in an improper installation, leaving you with wrinkles, creases, and an unappealing final look. While a knee kicker can provide some limited stretching for thinner carpets, it is not a proper substitute. Attempting to stretch a carpet by hand or with homemade tools can also shorten its lifespan. For the best results, you should buy or rent a stretcher. If you do not want to use a stretcher, it is better to hire a professional for the installation.

You may be able to use super glue in a pinch to fix your carpet, but expect the repair to last only a short time. Super glue isn't designed for carpet, so over time, it'll break down, and the carpet piece will move out of place. For the best results, go to the store and grab a bottle of carpet seam glue.
