"After reading the excellent reviews of Goodfellows Windows, I reached out to the company for a quote. Gary, the owner, came to my house and quoted an amazingly affordable figure. We decided to replace every window in the house including a large bay window. We also replaced a sliding glass door off of our family room, a outside door leading to our deck, and a front door unit consisting of a door and a glass window with internal shades. Because of Covid 19, our order took longer than projected. This was not the fault of Goodfellows. Our sliding door, deck door, and front door were put in first. The workers, Phil and Orlando took meticulous care to make sure everything fit perfectly. The windows finally arrived in early July and were installed over a three day period. There was a total of 28 windows. Some installation required extra work, but this was accomplished by the highly skilled team of Phil and Orlando. Gary was onsite during the entire procedure. I cannot overemphasize my satisfaction with the job performed. They even removed all my blinds and reinstalled them after the windows were put in. Get quotes from every company you want, but I guarantee that you will choose to hire Goodfellows Windows for your project. They are the BEST."

"Mike did work building a dry bar in my basement. He was very easy to work with, communicative and did great work. He is fairly priced and was open to my suggestions, checking In with me before making any major decisions as he knew I wanted to be a part of the design process. The end result Is exactly what my vision was, and I couldn't be happier with It."

"2nd time I’ve hired Diego to make a custom glass door for a bathtub. His workmanship is excellent and that of a perfectionist. Very clean. Goes over all of the details before doing the project, gives a quote on the price, and then keeps to the timeline to get the job done. No fuss. No mess. Can’t ask for anything more."

"Our church was built in 1958 and has a main window looking out over the property. The window is 25 feet tall and 15 wide. It has 42 panes that were various shapes including rectangles, trapezoids, and triangles. The glass was single ply, mounted in a redwood frame. Over the years some of the panes had cracked, some caulking loosened and the overall appearance and thermal efficiency had degraded. For the last several years we had made attempts to find contractors to replace the glass with double pane windows, but the size and height of the window, plus the need to custom make 42 panes of double pane low E glass in the various shapes and in precision sizing made it next to impossible to find someone to take on the job. Renewit, was the exception. Vincent and Jessie brought in scaffolding to reach the highest panes, took detailed measurements, had 42 new double panes manufactured to spec, and working from a lift, replaced and resealed the entire window. To finish the job, they re-stained the redwood frame work inside and out. Restoring our beautiful window to like new condition. This was a complex job for any contractor to take on. One that most refused to bid on. Not only was the project handled professionally, Vincent and Jessie are great to work with. Without reservation, I would recommend them for any window job no matter how small or how big."

"Gary did a great job fixing the sliding doors into the track using an innovative solution, and saved me time of money in replacing the doors entirely. However, I don't think the work he did in about one hour qualifies for a hefty fee of $350.00!"

"Let me just prefix this by saying weâ ve had a few bad experiences working with contractors in the past. We had our porch done recently by a separate contractor, and dealing with that company was a nightmare. Material left out, never showing up to the job on the day they said, shoddy work ectâ ¦.. however, THIS was the opposite of that experience. We needed a cement slab poured. First off They were able to work the job right away basically, they were there when they said they would be there, on time. They worked quickly, and cleaned up the job and materials once it was completed. The slab once it was finished came out better than I had expected. Also the main contractor running the job was very communicative. So all in all I would 100% call them back. By far one of the better contractors weâ ve worked with over the years"

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

It’s possible to make minor screen repairs yourself using a waterproof adhesive for small tears or a screen patch kit for larger tears and holes. However, it’s usually a better option to call in a professional window technician. It’s very easy to use too much waterproof glue, resulting in a messy appearance that might demand a full replacement anyway. A screen repair technician will not only be able to carry out clean repairs and patches that aren’t obvious, but they can also let you know if replacing your screen is a more cost-effective option.

Window screens can take anywhere between 10 minutes and an hour to replace, depending on the complexity of the replacement and the accessibility of the window. Replacing the screen inside an existing frame normally takes longer than replacing an entire screen, frame and all, if you purchase a prefabricated screen already mounted on the frame.

Window screen repair costs an average of $310, with a typical range of $100 to $480. The final price depends on several factors, including the window size, accessibility, screen type, whether the frame needs replacement, and especially the screen material.

The cost of window screen materials varies widely based on durability and features:

  • Fiberglass: $35–$200

  • Aluminum: $50–$300

  • Copper: $90–$850

  • Stainless Steel: $45–$400

  • Brass: $100–$900

  • Solar: $55–$850

  • Security: $100–$1,000

  • Vinyl: $25–$120

Costs also differ by screen type. For instance, a prefabricated screen might cost only $40, moveable screens typically run $25 to $75, and retractable screens range from $300 to $900. To save money, you can choose more affordable materials like vinyl or fiberglass, opt to rescreen instead of replacing the entire frame, and have multiple screens repaired at once to reduce labor costs.

If you’d rather repair your screen door mesh than replace it, you can patch it. Purchase a mesh patch for screen doors with small holes or tears, especially if the mesh is pretty new. Hardware stores and websites sell mesh patches that are easy to apply with an adhesive or a warm hair dryer. Keep in mind that repairs won’t look as aesthetically pleasing in most cases as a full replacement.

The average cost to repair a window is about $400, with prices typically ranging from $175 to $1,500. The final cost is influenced by several factors, including:

  • Number of Panes: Single-pane repairs average around $200, double-pane repairs range from $200 to $400, and triple-pane repairs can cost $600 to $1,100.

  • Type of Repair: Minor fixes for a track, seal, or sash are more affordable than repairs for broken glass or window frames, which are typically the most expensive.

  • Window Details: The size, type, and material of the window affect the price.

  • Accessibility: Windows on upper floors or in hard-to-reach locations may increase labor costs.

  • Other Factors: The extent of the damage, local labor rates, and the need for emergency service will also impact the total cost.

For comparison, a full window replacement can range from $175 to $1,800 or more for high-end materials or large windows like bay or bow windows.
