"Jeff and his partner at H4 Lnadscape did a great job cleaning up our planted areas around our condo at Farmington Woods. He was prompt, thorough and hard-working from 9 AM to 5 PM. We are very pleased with the results, so tired of looking at that overgrown mess by our brink walk and raised garden. We highly recommend him and his company. Thank you, Jeff. Louise P."

"Quote was reasonable especially considering the amount of rubbish hauled away. Arrived the day he promised and worked right through to complete the job. Took a LOT of stress away too as I'm not really in shape for heavier yard work anymore and was quite overwhelmed. Very happy!"

Leaf Removal questions, answered by experts

No. Standard homeowners insurance does not cover any kind of lead remediation, focusing instead on sudden, unpreventable events like fires and theft. Many insurance companies will specifically exclude lead paint removal, since it tends to be an expensive and unavoidable project. The exception is if the lead surface is damaged during a covered event (like a flood) and homeowners insurance pays its replacement.

You should ask a few questions to ensure that your potential lead removal professional is experienced and qualified to handle lead-paint abatement safely, legally, and properly.

  • What are your qualifications and experience removing lead-based paint?

  • Are you licensed and certified to remove lead-based paint?

  • How do you test for lead paint?

  • What methods do you use for lead-based paint abatement?

  • What do you plan to do with the hazardous material when you remove it from the home?

  • Do you do replacement and painting work or removal only?

If your home was built before 1978, there’s a chance that any paint on your hardwood floors could be lead paint—especially if it was already there when you moved in. Because lead is toxic, hiring a licensed pro to remove it is mandatory. The average price for professional lead paint removal ranges from $1,500 to $5,300 and depends on the scope of the project.

Chlorine has a shelf life of between six months and several years, depending on its type and formulation. Liquid chlorine can often lose its effectiveness in just a few weeks. Pool owners can find themselves with overstock that they need to get rid of. The best way to dispose of excess chlorine is to take it to a hazardous waste collection site and let the pros handle it.

Lead removal can take a few days to several weeks, depending on the work needed, particularly if the lead is widespread and in hard-to-reach areas.
