"     In order to complete to layout design I submitted a drawing of the room as well as a series of photos.  The website for Homemade design has a questionaire what helps define your overall tastes in design.  I joined Pinterest and started boards for furniture, lighting, bookshelves which were reviewed.  Homemade design comes to New York periodically to meet with clients not in the Boston area and this gave us a chance to meet and select furniture and upholstery at the New York Design center.  This is an extra charge but well worth it since I was completely overwhelmed.  They were extremely patient and guided me through the process.  At one point I decided to move the television which turned out to be a bad idea -- they explained why it would not worked and I concurred competely after I understood the reasons.  So, they are not afraid to tell you if you going down the wrong road. I live in a New York City townhouse and forget that I do not have a whol lot of space even though my house is huge for NYC. So, I had to be told how to "scale" everything to the space we had to work with, which was helpful
I purchased the service several months ago but was not ready to actually decide on the actual purchases until recently. So, the delay in completion is because of my schedule.  I now hope to finish everything by September.

"My husband and I hired James Hood to remodel my parent's bathroom. We initially had two people that we were going to interview for the job, but after meeting James, we cancelled the other interview. We were very confident in the meeting that he was the right person for the project. He responded with a written estimate quickly and worked with us to get the job started right away. We live overseas and were just about to wrap up our visit. He understood our unique situation and handled it professionally. I specified clean, simple, white. However, as he got to know my parents and spoke to them, he realized that more needed to be done and he was able to change the design slightly and give them a stunning off white bathroom tile that they are immensely pleased with. I was kept updated with comments and photos and I have no doubts that we left the job in very capable hands. My elderly parents were very impressed with James. He showed up on time and with a smile, he worked quickly and quietly and with as little disruption and mess as possible. He took the time to talk to my parents and even the young grandchildren liked him and looked forward to seeing him. James completely gutted their bathroom, removing the old whirlpool tub that my parents could barely get in and out of and installed and beautifully tiled a walk in shower with safety rails. He removed the horrible vinyl flooring and replaced the sub floor and repaired water damage from a leaking toilet. He installed a new toilet and flange, vanity, sink, light fixtures, power outlet and bathroom door. The floors were tiled in a complimentary color to the shower while the vanity, walls and all the fixtures were still the requisite white. My husband and I are very thankful for his hard work and respect and would without hesitation hire him again and recommend him to anyone. "This is the 2nd time I have used Dan (I call him my handyman) and I was so impressed there are no words for the work this man does!  My doors and trim were 16 years old, yellowing, peeling, damaged from my boys growing up and banging their trucks and toys on everything...  I was contemplating replacing all the interior doors but just didn't have the budget and Dan assured me he could make them look good so that I could get a few more years out of them.  That's just the kind of man he is!  Today I just stand in awe when I look at them.
For the exterior of my home, he powerwashed the patios/porches, driveway, sidewalk and the house.  The wood around my bedroom windows on the back of my house were rotting and peeling, Dan replaced the trim with hardiplank so it would last longer.  There were also a few hardiplank boards as well that were damaged on the back of the house and he replaced those too.  He replaced all the other facia boards that were old/rotten, recaulked the entire exterior (windows, doors, etc.), and painted.
Dan is very respectful of the comfort of my family when he is done working for the day - he picks up and puts the house back to a living condition each day...no matter how many times he's going to come back to complete the job.
My home has been transformed to 2014 thanks to this man and his talent!  I'm working on my next list of things I'd like for him to take care of!
