About us
I specialize in restoration work on Victorian and Craftsman homes -- those built before 1925 -- with an eye toward preserving the integrity of their architectural styles. I enjoy restoring and reusing -- rather than replacing -- antique hardware, fixtures, woodwork, etc. But whether your home is vintage or modern or in-between, I like helping you find creative low-cost alternatives to what might otherwise be expensive repairs. I also like to do those small jobs that some other contractors don't want to bother with. I can work nights, weekends, and holidays for emergencies, or just to accommodate your schedule. No charge for consultations and estimates.

Service was great, I couldn't have asked more. Neal arrived and promptly went to work. I had a leaking copper water line the crawlspace that he repaired. He also installed a shut off valve for the ice maker.

Neal does an excellent job with high attention to quality. The bathroom fan with electrical work was the most difficult job due to the small working area in the attic but the job was done without any issues. The door and the stairway work were completed with excellent attention to detail.

Neal picked up the door from Home Depot and installed it for us. Everything went fantastic. Neal is very detail-oriented and very professional. We would definitely hire him again for any job that was beyond our ability to do ourselves.

Neal is very prompt in his replies and on his start time each day. He takes pride in his work and leaves the work areas as clean as possible at the end of each day. He contracted out the exterior mortar job to a third party after introducing me to the people who would be doing the job. The work was well done.

They were very careful with the windows, with pulling nails from the siding above the bad siding board, with removing the flanges at each end, and cleaning up afterward. They asked for my input where it was helpful. We had a pleasant work environment, the whole time. They are my new go-to handyman work team.

When you're good .... you're good!! Not only did Neal call me less than 4 hours after I left him a message, but he and Brian were here and did the job the same day!! That's service at it's best. All the little details which I had not considered where carefully attended to and the final result was better than I had hoped for. The fence move is temporary and I will be calling Neal back to reverse the job. The cost was fair and I'm certain that I'll be contacting Neal the Genius Handyman again in the near future for all my handyman needs. Thank you!

It went very well, because Neal is quite clever. I consider myself capable of handling most handyman and light construction type of tasks around the house but I needed someone with a fresh set of ideas to come up with a cost effective fix; Neal was able to give that to me. Neal is a very nice guy too, also professional, and punctual. Neal and his partner were quick but careful, and were very clear on what they were going to to do to accomplish the fix. One of the doors they repaired was, in my opinion, was un-fixable; however two hours after they started on that door, the door frame was perfectly square, trim back in place, and closing perfectly.

Neal is a gem! My deck was an eyesore and he turned it into a thing of beauty. I can't say how pleased I am!! The deck turned out better than I had dreamed. Neal is always on time and does fabulous work. He has done a few projects for me and I'm never disappointed. I will be calling him again!!

Neal was better than on time, such a relief. Neal not only fixed 2 leaks, he also checked to make sure there was no damage from the leak in the crawl space. He is very pleasant to talk to and really knows his stuff. The price he charges is more than reasonable. Neal has found a new loyal customer. I even told him that he was my new best friend!! I highly recommend Neal!!!

Neal arrived on time with his assistant and assessed the situation. They grabbed their tools and got started right away. They had to remove the storm door from the door frame. Then they removed the molding and re-attached the molding and storm door with screws instead of the original nails. This made the support much stronger. They re-assembled everything and made sure the door closed properly.
Neal and assistant were very thorough and methodical. The charge for his service was lower than I expected.
