"David McIntyre with Advantage showed up to assess a low water-leaking kind of noise in the toilet of my deceased mothers master bathroom.   I had initially checked to possibly replace the flapper, but then immediately called a professional when I saw all of the ancient American Standard Vent-away technology inside the tank.   After checking things over, David recommended replacement with modern water-saving toilet, giving me a number of good reasons, including a $75 incentive by the Woodmore association when converting to new 1.2 gpf toilets.   I purchased the Kohler one-piece toilet and David picked it up at Home Depot, brought it to the house, brought it in and installed it in a little over 1 hours.   While David was working, he noticed a small dripping with the toilet supply valve and replaced it with the supply line (all at no extra charge).   He discussed the slow leak and the damp carpet in the bathroom.   I told him that all of the outdated carpet was being replaced upstairs and that different flooring would be going into the bathrooms and the kitchen area.   He said "OK" and then advised me about getting a fan to deal with the moisture in the carpet until it was removed and replaced.   He then gave me some tips related to the use of the new 1.2 gpf toilet.   Overall the experience was excellent.   I was informed before, during and after the whole project.   The work proceeded quickly with no hitches and David cleaned up afterwards and disposed of the old toilet.   And the price was great.    I have been using it for a month now and it has worked like it should.   I am very happy.

"Jason saved me 4,000 dollars because of the thoroughness of his work. He noticed the home had Poly Butylene pipes. When I brought this to my realtor, she talked with the seller and he agreed to cut a check at closing for 4,000 dollars to cover the cost of replacing the pipes. Other than that, there were some other things, like a gas leak, that Jason was able to find. My realtor said they had never seen an inspection report so thorough."

Septic Tanks questions, answered by experts

An outdoor water valve typically has a round or oval handle that you can turn to control the water flow. It may be located in a protective box or pit near the property line, where the main water line connects to your house.

Wells typically replenish at a rate of about five gallons per minute, but several variables can influence how quickly they refill. A deep well will take more time to replenish than a shallow one. The replenishment rate can be slowed by issues such as leaks, damage, a faulty well pump, or a clogged well screen. Other factors, such as the surrounding geology, regular precipitation, and proper maintenance, also affect the recovery rate.

The best way to keep a septic tank clean is to hire a local septic tank cleaner to inspect and pump the septic tank every three to five years. Be sure to only flush human waste and toilet paper down the toilet, and don’t pour grease, oil, fats, coffee grounds, or food scraps into your drains.

Start by finding the septic tank, marked by an access lid near your home. From there, the drain field extends outward in a series of trenches. Look for greener, lusher grass, as drain fields promote plant growth due to moisture and fertilizer. You can also check property records, use a soil probe to detect damp soil, or hire a septic professional with ground-penetrating radar equipment to map the drain field’s location.

Common signs that your well pump is failing include fluctuating or consistently poor water pressure, sputtering water from faucets, or a complete loss of water. Other indicators are unusual noises coming from the pump, the pump running continuously, dirty or cloudy water, or a sudden, unexplained spike in your utility bills. While some issues, especially after a power outage, might be resolved by simply restarting the power or priming the pump, persistent problems suggest a more serious issue. If you notice any of these red flags, it is recommended to call a professional well pump service to inspect the system and determine whether it needs to be repaired or replaced.
