I specialize in remodeling; Demolition and removal of walls and flooring, to trim and paint. Everything between. I do some minor plumbing and electrical. Nothing that requires licensing, however. I've been in the construction industry for 13 years professionally. I've worked in steel framing, concrete, roofing, painting, wood framing, but I've been in remodels and carpentry for majority of my experience. I can do incredible things with wood and a saw.

The Gallery is Durango's local experts on wood, tile, and carpet flooring installation. With long time professionals to offer their experience and knowledge, The Gallery is a great stop for those who are still in the planning stage of installing a new floor.

"The Gallery was wonderful. They worked with us to select the right floors and colors. Their installer, a subcontractor, was terrific. Very communicative and the work was lovely. The floors were installed in August 2017 and look just as beautiful now as they did then."

Hardwood Flooring questions, answered by experts

The cheapest flooring is standard vinyl plank flooring, which costs about $2 to $7 per square foot, depending on the brand and style. Vinyl mimics the look of wood or stone and is durable and great for high-traffic homes. It’s easy to install, and moderate DIYers can tackle the job to save further on costs.

Contractors commonly install floors before cabinets during a kitchen remodel. It’s the standard option when installing hardwood, vinyl, and tile flooring. Installing flooring first helps prevent height misalignment, ensures a seamless appearance, and saves extra flooring work and costs if you plan to replace or remove any cabinets later.

Yes, you can recycle most types of carpet. If you hire a pro to remove your old carpet, ask about their carpet disposal process. Many companies will recycle the carpeting, but if yours doesn’t, you can ask them to take it to a recycling center for you (although there might be an additional fee). Alternatively, you can hire a junk hauling service or contact a carpet recycling organization (like CARE).

Keep your floors clean by sweeping or vacuuming them weekly to remove dirt and debris that can scratch the surface. Mats at entryways are also a good idea to catch excess dirt and moisture before it reaches the floors. Additionally, pads under furniture legs will help protect your floors from scratches.

No, thick carpet padding isn’t necessarily better than thinner padding. The appropriate padding thickness will depend on the type of carpet and the amount of foot traffic in the area.

For example, thick padding works well in low-traffic areas, like bedrooms, where you have soft and plush carpeting. However, thick carpet padding can damage low-pile carpet, which is used in the busiest parts of your home (like hallways and entryways). For that reason, it’s best to use thinner, heavier padding underneath carpet in high-traffic areas.
