Jake carefully listened to our needs and gave us creative suggestions for materials and design.  He has a large network of resources for materials and recommended another craftsman/colleague for a related effort of tile and plumbing. 
His estimate was very detailed and the work was completed with minor mutually agreed to additions per the estimate.
Jake brought with him an experienced crew as needed and extensive woodworking equipment as the effort progressed.  
The result is a refinished floor with matching trim that we have proudly shown to our new neighbors.

and put an additional coat on. I also asked him to leave me a gallon of polyurethane, which he did. I coated the "maintenance" area two more times myself. All in all, I have terrific floors now and saved maybe $500-800. If you don't mind confronting a gruff, defensive cowboy with details like these, then Jake's your man. I'll use him again.

Overall a very positive experience with a true craftsman who cares about the end result.  His staff is amazing as well.

Jake gave me a bid and started soon after I accepted it.  He was diligent about showing up when he said he would and keeping at the task until it was finished.

Truly one of the finest remodel experiences I have ever had!   Jake at Thumper is so professional, talented, and dedicated that I could not recommend him more highly.  His work is absolutely perfect, his dedication to detail is unbelievable, and the craftsmanship he delivers will surpass any and all competitors.   Jake painstakingly matched a difficult colored stain for our new floors.  He matched the type of wood, stain, and grain perfectly.  At the same time he improved the baseboards and left the property BETTER than he found it.  Thumper is an absolutely professional outfit and if you have the chance to use them, DO SO.  They are not second to anyone. 

Jake provided an estimate and was contracted to do the work. Carpeting and rug pad were removed and hauled away. The subfloor was in neeed of additional support to stabilize the floor and that part of the project more than met my expectations. The quality of the finished work is outstanding and I am very pleased with the results. Jacob and his assistant, Demetrius, are friendly and easy to work with and do exceptionally high quality work. .

This is the ONLY hardwood floor guy I will use and recommend to others. Jake is very knowledgable, passionate and honest. He did the most amazing job on the floors. Once I selected the stain, I had to leave the state for work and Jake completed the job on schedule while I was gone. He called me every day to let me know his progress and what he would be doing next. He would even call my friend who I designated as a contact, and would invite him down to view the progress. Thumper was not the cheapest, however, they was worth every dollar. I felt I got more from Jake in the quality of work, materials used and attention to detail than what I paid. He took such a wholistic approach to the floors that all the issues were addressed and I did not have to worry about having someone come back to do this or that. All other companies gave me an estimate for just specifics and everything else was - "oh that is extra" which explains why some of the estimates were so low. Jake noticed things immediately and began making recommendations and solutions. He caught things that no other company did such as the need for a threshold to transition from the bedroom into the bathroom and some repairs. We discussed different options and there was never an upsell. He worked hard to match the stain for the bedrooms to the existing stain in the living room. The stain was actually a 50/50 blend of another less common brand. So he went out of his way to discuss the color and floor treatment with the regional representative for that particular stain manufacturer. He matched it 100%! Another company had completely given me different information on my floors and their materials would have been incompatible. Jake's willingness to take the extra time to catch the issue and find the right solution once again confirmed that I made the right decision to use Thumper. I love my floors and can't stop telling people about Jake and Thumper Custom Hardwood Floors. Jake is an artisan in his approach to hardwood floors and that set him apart from all the others.

Jake appears to love wood, is very knowledgeable about wood floors and a perfectionist.

Jake had promised to match the coloring of the wood floors in adjacent rooms which turned out to be a challenge. He went to great lengths to be sure I was satisfied with the match.

I called Jake right after I closed on my house. Out of the 4, I called from Angie's List, Jake (Thumper Custom Hardwood) was the ONLY one who moved a job for me so that the floors could be done by move in the following Saturday. Not only did Jake take the initiative to make sure that I would get my floors done by moving day, he came back twice to check the quality. His last check he spotted a little bit of wood that raised during the final finish. He immediately took out his tools and floor finish and did ANOTHER screen and coat over ALL the hardwood, not just the "imperfections" so that it would look perfect. Jake treated me like one of his Vail million dollar customers. Most any other competitor would have come back, charged me a trip or added charges to fix what Jake did for free. I truly feel that I SAVED money by using Jake and Thumper Custom Floors. He didn't charge me extra to come out right away and do the job, he stayed late, showed up early and came back when he didn't have to just to make sure the job was done to his satisfaction (which was better than mine!). Anytime that I have another hardwood floor need I will call Jake back. He was worth it!

It was a little dicey in the beginning, as their representative seemed somewhat unresponsive. Then the owner called and said someone would be out shortly. They came out and worked very hard once they arrived. The floor came out with a gorgeous finish. They educated me about the water-based product they used, and I am very, very pleased...ecstaticly pleased. For the quality of the work and the price that they charged, it really was a bargain.

The floor looks great, the job took longer that Jake thought it would, but he made sure it was done right even though it was taking longer.

Jake is THE BEST! Very polite, trustworthy, honest and does beautiful work!
