He and his crew were on-time the days he was at my house. Quality of work was good and he clearly loves what he does. Was able to navigate through some issues with my old house. Final price was exactly as quoted. Would recommend Baxter Construction to anyone.

Description of Work: Baxter Construction built a hoist way for an elevator in my home. It was supposed to be a straight forward install until they got into the walls and discovered it would take a lot more to secure the area than expected.

 + 3 moreWe are so pleased we chose Rick Baxter to transform and update our mountain home. Rick Baxter is very conscientious of the customer's wishes and performed or supervised all of the work. The workmanship is superior. His cost estimates are accurate and parts of the project came in under budget. Rick had good suggestions and ideas. We did a majority of the project long distance and Rick was communicative and provided photographic updates. He did excellent trim work and cabinetry. Rick is very personable and we became friends during the course of the project.
Description of Work: Added garage. Extended covered walkway. Added bathroom. Replaced siding and metal roof. Painted interior and stained exterior. Replaced stair treads. Added bay windows in living room. Installed wood flooring.

 + -1 moreSince we had a set budget for the project we wanted built we decided not to go with this contractor. If there was a way for us to do so we would have gone with Mr. Baxter. He is very professional and respectful. I feel that his materials providers are a little high on their pricing. That was our main problem with the bid and he just couldn't come down any more on the total price.
Description of Work: we were impressed with the professionalism of this contractor and his eye for detail. He listened to what the customer wanted and provided a good set of prints.

Rick made sure we knew where we were in the process throughout. He answered all of our questions and returned calls promptly. The project came in on time and on budget and it looks beautiful! We will definitely call Rick the next time we need a contractor.

His team was timely and kept the work site clean. We had tow very minor issue and these were resolved promptly!! I would highly recommend Rick Baxter and would have used his services for more of the work but he did not have the capacity at the time. I hope to work with him again!

 + -1 moreThrough it all Richard Baxter was very patient (had to order special roofing to match our Morton Barn) and would not charge more than the estimate even though the Morton roofing panels were more expensive by half. Excellent workmanship and timeliness. Hay is stored and on sunny mornings we can enjoy sitting out of the wind as well. Great job at a fair price.

Description of Work: Rick made a custom kitchen bar in our new home. WOW he does great work. My wife designed what she wanted and he built it for exactly what he said it would cost. We had marble counters put on it and the marble company said it was top quality, they don't usually see as well done.

Due to the winter months coming up, and my house is still unsold, we decided to wait until things open up in my area regarding home sales. When my home sells and I know what my net proceeds will be, then I will re-connect with Rick to see if we can get together on a plan and price for my new home. I was very impressed by Rick's professional manner and felt very comfortable discussing my needs with him. I would recommend his services to anyone who wants a professional contractor to deal with.
Description of Work: Rick was very professional in keeping in contact with me while I was deciding whether to build a new home or not. As of now, the building project is on hold indefinitely, since my current home needs to be sold first.

 + -1 moreWhen we finally saw his bid, he came to our home, and sat down with us to go over it. We appreciated the fact that he did come over with the bid. However, his price for the project was about 40% higher than the contractor that we did hire. It looked like he took the materials and subs and doubled it to get his price. I spoke with him and gave him an opportunity to try to reduce his bid, but never heard back from him. We wish him all the best.
Description of Work: He came out to look at our project, and agreed to do a set of plans, and submit a bid. He emailed a rough sketch with more detailed plans and bid to follow. Did not hear from him for a couple of weeks, then said he would submit a bid shortly. He did provide a set of drawings for $300, which was reasonable, and a bid that was incredibly high.

 + 6 moreWhen we first bought this property, we wanted to turn it into a nice horse property and also needed much more outdoor storage areas. We interviewed several contractors and chose Rick Baxter for his honesty, polite clean appearance, his fairness in pricing, his professionalism, and his previous accomplishments. He did several projects for us in a timely, clean, organized manner. His work crew members were also delightful. We intend to use Rick in future projects.
Description of Work: Rick Baxter has done several projects for us so far. He turned an empty 40x40 building into a well planned garage, horse barn with two beautiful stalls, a tack room, hay storage area, and workbench area. He added on an extended roof overhang on one side for parking our tractor and horse trailer under. And he added on a delightful covered deck sitting area extended roof on the other side which has become one of our favorite outdoor spaces. He put in windows and doors, interior walls, insulation and ceiling panels, and built two 12 x 12 horse stalls. The interior is all beautifully done with tongue and groove pine paneling and is the talk of the neighborhood. Rick has also done a couple other projects for us. He turned an old concrete foundation into a useful out building by adding concrete courses to a height to put a roof on it, and custom built a sliding door for it to match the style of the barn building. He also built us an additional storage room attached to the outside of the house by helping pour a concrete floor, building insulated walls, and hung doors and windows. He removed some unwanted windows and replaced siding in their place on a second floor wall. Rick is professional, courteous, honest, and totally committed to his job. He keeps his work site totally clean and organized. He provides nicely printed estimates, blue print plans, permits and invoices. And he works with you to make sure you are satisfied with his work. We intend to keep using Rick for future projects and I would highly recommend him to anyone. We have told him he can use us as a reference anytime. I will try to prepare another referral for Rick Baxter/Baxter Construction that will show some photos of the work he has done for us.

 + 10 moreI was amazed to find this quality of craftsmanship at such a reasonable price. Mr. Baxter is a non-smoker and non-drinker and was extremely punctual in every day of work on our new home. He was clean, respectful and I never heard one foul word from him (unlike a few other contractors I know). His estimates were exact and his work was praised by every county inspector that came to inspect the work. I recommend Mr. Baxter without reservation and will be using him for future projects in the very near future.
Description of Work: Mr. Baxter built much of my basement and did the sheetrock and finish work. He also completely did two entire bathrooms, added a dormer to our roof and then built a large 3 care garage and the connecting enclosed hallway between the house and garage. He also built a fireplace and built a cover for a large deck. He worked at our home for a number of weeks.
