"After that storm last year our home sustained significant hail damage that our insurance originally denied. I called Advanced Exteriors for a second opinion and Sean Tillotson came to our home to assess the damage. Not only was our roof damaged but we had gutter, paint, and windows damaged. Sean was able to resubmit everything back to insurance and everything got paid. They did an excellent job restoring our home. Thank you! I would highly recommend!"

"Kept their schedule and kept us informed as the project progressed. Courteous workers and the salesman, Richard was very professional and friendly. Reported damage but now found it to be the loss of some gutter helmet and the nailing of the end guard to the roof which destroys the function of the guard. The end piece was missing so instead to telling me they just nailed the end to the room instead of keeping with the functional design of the gutter. No satisfaction and a hassle when first reporting the initial problem as seen at that time."

Customers say: Quick response

"Nestor was very thorough in evaluating our old roof and explaining what needed to be done. We hired him to do a complete "tear-off" , re-sheet and re-shingle of our entire house and garage. His crew worked like a team of surgeons and made the job look easy, completing it all in less than 2 days !!! We are VERY happy with the results , and we highly recommend Crazy Horse Roofing to anyone who needs a quality roof job done !!"

"A and B was an absolutely great contractor to work with on my roof. Bryan, my main contact, absolutely went over and above on every detail of the project. He was here every day. They were working working hard and ensuring that everything was meticulously completed. From the estimating to the complexity of my project to ensuring every detail was done at a high-quality, he was a true partner. Most importantly, he worked tirelessly with the insurance company to make sure every detail was covered and paid for. He helped me get the claim approved and then helped me maximize every dollar so I would have the highest quality roof possible. For a high, steep and complex roof they made it perfect. I couldn’t be more pleased. The level of service and expertise was something that seems rare these days. High recommend."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

When installed and maintained properly, a cedar shake roof should last up to 60 years. Severe weather and high winds will damage your roof, reducing its life span. Expect a shorter life span if the roofer didn't use top-grade material, didn’t have cedar shake expertise, didn’t create the proper ventilation, or didn’t use the correct fasteners. Keeping up with maintenance will help it last longer. It’s also a good idea to get roof inspections on a regular basis to help spot repairs before they become major issues.

The warranty for algae-resistant shingles varies by manufacturer, but the industry standard is 25 years for overall shingle durability and lifespan and between 10 and 15 years for algae resistance. Some products come with longer warranties for discoloration of up to 30 years. Check warranty coverage for the shingle and algae protection before deciding on a roofing product.

For homeowners who plan to stay in their homes for a long time or never want to have to deal with replacing a roof again, rubber roof shingles are likely worth the added investment amount over asphalt shingle varieties. While the initial cost of installing a rubber shingle roof will be significantly higher, their long life spans can be worth it in the long term. Consider the curb appeal of a rubber roof, though, as other roofing materials, like metal, can look better and offer even greater value.

When it comes to choosing the best roof color for a blue exterior, you have plenty of options. For a classic neutral look, go with a light gray, dark gray, or black roof. Blend gray tones if you want a more eye-catching look for your roof, or go for a different splash of color with a green or even red. Take inspiration from your neighbors if you want your house to fit in on the block.

Fall is widely considered the best time of year to replace a roof. The moderate temperatures are ideal for roofing crews to work and for new shingles to seal properly. Additionally, autumn weather is often drier, reducing the risk of weather-related delays compared to the rainier spring season.

While spring is also a viable option, the higher chance of rainfall can slow down the project. The main drawback to a fall installation is that it's the peak season for roofers, which can lead to higher prices and scheduling challenges.

To potentially save money, you could consider scheduling your roof replacement during the summer or winter off-seasons. However, both seasons have significant disadvantages. Extreme summer heat can make shingles too soft to handle, while winter's cold, snow, and ice can create dangerous working conditions and prevent shingles from sealing correctly, as they typically require temperatures above 40-45°F.
