"Our roof developed a leak which we had patched, but we had several roofing people who said we needed a roof replacement. We liked Austin's presentation and decided to go with Home Genius Exteriors for the new roof and gutters."

"Great presintation! They explain all about roofing, product, if there will be any extra cost wood, look in your attic for damages, 3d pictures of your roof how it will look like after it's been done. Added extra ventilation where needed. Clean up was great. I have Dish, they paid the cost to have Dish come back out. There was no surprises! They delivered product one day, next day they removed old wood and replaced with new and extra ventilation. It's just beautiful! They went beyond did extra safety steps for the customer. My roof looks great, beautiful and I can't stop looking at it. We have the roof for Idaho weather not California. The cost is high but you will have a nice product you will not have to worry about for a very very long time. I would recommend this company they are a top quality roofing company."

"A and B was an absolutely great contractor to work with on my roof. Bryan, my main contact, absolutely went over and above on every detail of the project. He was here every day. They were working working hard and ensuring that everything was meticulously completed. From the estimating to the complexity of my project to ensuring every detail was done at a high-quality, he was a true partner. Most importantly, he worked tirelessly with the insurance company to make sure every detail was covered and paid for. He helped me get the claim approved and then helped me maximize every dollar so I would have the highest quality roof possible. For a high, steep and complex roof they made it perfect. I couldn’t be more pleased. The level of service and expertise was something that seems rare these days. High recommend."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

You can put new shingles over old shingles, but most municipalities only allow for two layers of shingles before you have to rip off the old roof and start fresh. In some areas, only a single layer of shingles is allowed due to the weight a bundle of shingles adds to your structure. In most cases, it’s a good idea to remove your old shingles before you install new shingles, especially if you suspect that a roof leak may have compromised the decking underneath.

Roof repairs average around $1,100 but can easily exceed that for larger repairs. The cost of roof replacement depends on the size of your home and the materials used but averages between $4,000 and $24,000.

A new roof may improve insulation and ventilation problems that can lead to ice dams, but it’s not a solution for preventing them. All roofs are susceptible to the conditions that cause ice dams, so it’s best to invest your money into insulation and gutter management solutions rather than a new roof if you don’t need a replacement yet.

You should avoid choosing a metal roof if your home has a weak structural support system, as metal roofs can be heavier than roofs made of other materials. If you're in a region prone to frequent hailstorms or high winds, you also need to be aware that denting may occur.

Tipping your roofer or their crew is not customary or expected, but it is always appreciated. It is entirely up to you whether you want to give them extra money for their work. If you feel they have done an exceptional job, a tip can be a nice gesture. As an alternative way to show appreciation, you can provide coffee, breakfast, drinks, or grab-and-go snacks like cookies or doughnuts.
