"Our roof developed a leak which we had patched, but we had several roofing people who said we needed a roof replacement. We liked Austin's presentation and decided to go with Home Genius Exteriors for the new roof and gutters."

"Blake & Brian came and explained everything for my roof. It was in bad shape and they showed me a lot that other roofers missed. I knew the others seemed too good to be true and missed a ton of stuff. Blake & Brian worked hard to make it affordable and fit within my budget. Super excited to get my roof replaced by an amazing contractor"

"Trust Roofing and owner Cal Merkowitz did very professional new roof on my home. Cal had done a couple roofs recently in our neighborhood. He quickly surmised after analyzing our roof that we had major hail damage. He worked with our Insurance company and got things approved. Their crew did a great job throughout the project and cleaned up all excess materials, including roofing nails that get lost around the perimeter of our house during construction I would highly recommend Trust Roofing to get your next roof approved and professionally redone. These guys are the best! Thanks Cal!"

"A and B was an absolutely great contractor to work with on my roof. Bryan, my main contact, absolutely went over and above on every detail of the project. He was here every day. They were working working hard and ensuring that everything was meticulously completed. From the estimating to the complexity of my project to ensuring every detail was done at a high-quality, he was a true partner. Most importantly, he worked tirelessly with the insurance company to make sure every detail was covered and paid for. He helped me get the claim approved and then helped me maximize every dollar so I would have the highest quality roof possible. For a high, steep and complex roof they made it perfect. I couldn’t be more pleased. The level of service and expertise was something that seems rare these days. High recommend."

Roofing questions, answered by experts

Wood shake roofs are durable, energy-efficient, and offer a natural aesthetic. Composite options provide similar looks with less maintenance.

You can technically install a metal roof over asphalt shingles, but it isn’t a good idea. This is because you’re essentially creating a moisture barrier under the metal, which can easily—and often does—lead to significant mold damage. Removing an asphalt roof isn’t terribly expensive, and some roofing companies might cut you a serious labor and disposal discount if you add it to a new install.

As with any roofing material, there are benefits and drawbacks to consider before installing roll roofing. On the plus side, roll roofing is budget-friendly, lightweight, and comparatively easy to install. It is also ideal for low-sloped roofs and lasts around 10 years. The cons of roll roofing, however, include its low durability compared to roofing materials, restricted color choices, and low ROI.

Pros:

  • Low-cost

  • Lightweight

  • Cut to size

  • Easy and quick installation

  • Designed for low-sloped roofs

  • Waterproofs your roof for an average of 10 years

  • Easy to purchase and transport

Cons:

  • Less durable than asphalt shingles

  • More prone to cracks and tears

  • Short life span

  • Not as many color or style choices

  • Not as aesthetically pleasing as shingles, wood, or clay tiles

  • Not preferred for a higher home resale value

Installing solar panels involves drilling small holes in your roof to secure the solar panel mounting brackets. These brackets hold the solar panels in place and must withstand strong weather conditions so they’re secured into your roof. However, holes and screws are sealed to prevent leaking and further damage.

Most shed roofs can last between 15 and 30 years, although some roofing materials like slate and clay tile can last for 50 to 100 years.  Choosing durable, waterproof roofing materials that can stand up to weather and the elements will help your shed roof last for years to come. Besides the noticeable signs that your shed roof needs to be replaced, it might also be worth replacing if it’s near the end of its life span.
