"I highly recommend Sam and Glacier Irrigation for your sprinkler system needs. He and Sean arrived at the job site at the appointment time and jumped right into the project of re-routing a sprinkler head location, then replaced fourteen old and damaged sprinkler heads with new, water conservation heads. Glacier Irrigation is knowledgeable, informative, professional, a pleasure to work with, and fairly priced in my experience."

"First, I am not typically one to respond to requests for ratings. This is an exception for me. All Pro did an outstanding job! I have worked with four other irrigation companies here in Denver. All Pro, BY FAR, is the leader in terms of value. Two companies wanted $200+ per valve to replace. One company said they couldn't estimate; they do the work and charge (Wow!). The other company was tied to a landscaping service and did not seem to be expert in the irrigation field. All Pro's price was LESS THAN HALF of what the competitors charge, and the work quality was OUTSTANDING! I even have a three year warranty on the work! I would highly recommend All Pro to anyone, hands down. Everyone you talk with in this company is honest, sincere, and really cares about you and the work they do. Gina, who handles the office, called me back OVER A HOLIDAY WEEKEND to schedule my appointment. The work ethic of each team member is over the top. They are really busy and for good reason. Schedule your appointment, be patient and be prepared for outstanding service! I cannot say enough good things about these folks."

"My wife and I decided it was time to xeriscape our front yard and we wanted to do it ourselves. The first thing we needed to do is have our beautiful lawn of 45 years removed. It was hard to say goodbye to an old friend but it was time. So, enter Miguel and crew with Summit Landscaping to do this back breaking job. They removed 1,201 sq ft of grass, cleaned up the area, and were finished and on their way in 4 hours. Now we can start transforming our front yard into a beautifully low to no water landscaped area. Thank you Miquel and crew. You all did a fantastic job!"

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

If you throw grass seed on bare spots, some may sprout on the soil’s surface. However, the germination rate will diminish over time because the grass will not be rooted correctly. You may not get desired results if you toss grass seed on bare spots without proper lawn maintenance and cultivation.

Properly secured bird netting is the best option to cover your grass seed with. It creates a minor moisture barrier that can help seeds sprout, and it’s a great way to keep birds away from your seeds. A cheaper, lower-maintenance option is hay or mulch, but these can change the look of your lawn and require cleanup in the case of straw.

Buffalo grass spreads through both underground roots and above-ground stolons. The widespread root and stolon system makes up for this grass’s overall lack of density. It’s a hearty grass, so it spreads on its own slowly, especially considering that most of the male (no staminate) varieties of grass are sterile. You may think about over-maintaining your lawn to encourage growth, but this would have the opposite effect.

Buffalo grass is not a dense grass, so weeds can grow between the buffalo grass plants. However, as long as you don’t overwater your lawn, weeds have a hard time growing. If you do notice weeds, you can use granular herbicides that are safe for buffalo grass in early and late summer.

In the fall, you should aerate the soil, overseed the bare spots, kill weeds, mow the lawn low, and rake your leaves. By boosting your lawn’s health in the fall, your grass will be stronger throughout the winter and come back healthier in the spring. You should also trim your perennials so that they withstand the winter and are ready for new growth in the spring.
