"This review is more about my installer, Mike; than it is about Bordner. Mike is a professional, a skilled craftsman. Polite and committed to providing the best possible service. He cleaned up all construction debris daily, he was so committed to providing this service, that my neighbor even commented on how wonderful it was to witness how amazingly professional Mike is. High marks to Mike. If you are fortunate enough to have him assigned to your project, you are definitely in good hands!"

"When Xcel replaced my meter with the new style they found the meter socket was defective and had to be replaced. Since both the exterior entrance panel and the original 1957 interior sub panel were made by Federal Pacific (a safety issue) I decided to replace both. Andy, examined the job and came up with a method that eliminated much of the work that the other bidders said was required. His generational experience allowed for him to "think outside the box" and provide a safe and code approved method that didn't require extensive rewiring and interior destruction. When replacing the interior FPE breaker box in our hallway, he and his son were able to put the new box within a space that could be hidden by a picture just like the original. This was done without any required plaster or paint repair. Andy and Robert did a fantastic job at an extremely reasonable cost. I will use them for any future jobs and Highly recommend them."

"I hired Cransten a month ago and was super pleased with their responiveness and ease of booking. It is so hard to find a reliable contractor these days. We had a punch list of items to complete and they got everything done with high quality and in a timely manner. "

Customers say: True professional

"The crew was very professional and efficient. Jerry, the leader, was especially knowledgeable about materials and techniques. They went beyond what was expected by matching paint, replacing a dryer vent hose, and working late. I highly recommend Superior Remodeling."

Subcontractors questions, answered by experts

Yes, new home construction will always require building permits, no matter where you live. In most cases, you’ll need a general construction permit, along with plumbing and electrical permits for the utility lines in your home. Depending on where you live, you’ll likely find that you also need permits for things like connection to a sewage system or installing exterior components, like decks, driveways, patios, and curb cutouts. Leave navigating the permits required for new home construction to a professional to ensure your home is built legally and safely.

A pool builder can advise you on the best design for your property and vision, and can walk you through the process from design to a swim-ready pool. Knowing which questions to ask a pool builder can help ensure you choose the right person for the job.

You likely need to hire an architect for your new house design and build, unless you have the design skills and experience with building regulations and standards needed to get your plans approved. If you are able to meet the design requirements, you can hire a draftsperson to create the blueprints for the builders to follow.

You have three options in terms of professionals who can draw up blueprints: a draftsperson, an architect, or a structural engineer. A draftsperson can sometimes draw up plans for new construction, but they more often work from approved plans for alterations or to provide 3D drawings. Architects are usually the best option for standard residential construction projects. Structural engineers might be necessary for custom home builds or for alterations that could affect your home’s structural integrity. Draftsmen cost the least of the three, followed by architects and then structural engineers.

Designing a building takes 2-6 months, depending on project size, required permits, and revisions.
