We contacted Benjamin Franklin because their name was on a label on the water heater and they installed this brand of water heater when the house was built in 2005 and we are the original owners of the house. We asked the service man several times whether this was a "RHEEEM" water heater that he was going to use from his truck to replace the old one- He said it was the "SAME WATERHEATER 50 GALLON". After installation, we discovered he installed a "American Water Heater" which is NOT THE SAME AS A RHEEM Water heater. In addition "Matt" provided no invoice with the name of the company or the NAME of the water heater. Matt had said it was the same water heater that we had already installed by them in 2005 when house was built-Not So. In addition Benjamin Franklin submitted to us a bill for $2,966.00- for an inferior water heater. The bill showed just the dispatch fee of $89.00 and the $2,966.0 without an indication of the amount we were paying for the water heater and the labor. We had also ordered a $445.00 warranty which was part of this $2,966.00- they did not give use any paperwork and the warranty was not listed on the invoice. We had a completely different water heater installed for $2,966.00 and we have no idea of what the labor cost, where the invoice was (no paperwork) and zero information on what they were charging for labor. The installed water heater costs on an Home Depot Site $496.00 and this was not disclosed on the invoice at all. No indication on the ipad we signed of price- either it was cut out from the ipad document or not there.

Technician showed up on time. Could not stop commenting on the size of the house and how expensive it must be. Did not appear to know anything about air conditioner- walked up to the fan unit and said it's not working. I knew that - it's why I called. Made several phone calls wanting to know how much to charge me for diagnosing the problem. I asked him what the $69 fee was for and he said just to come see if it was running or not. Said Lennox wasn't a good brand and wanted to sell me a new air conditioner. Wanted an additional $400 to tell me what was wrong. Because of his multiple phone calls to his office, I had no confidence in him by this time so I told him he was fired. He asked for the $69, which I paid. Then he wanted me to sign a paper that said the work was completed to my satisfaction. I said it wasn't. He said that it was just to say that he had shown up. I questioned him about whether or not he was the Roberts company from Nunn and he said they were from Loveland and had bought out that company. On my receipt he wrote I was unhappy because he wasn't the old man from Nunn. Ridiculous. Don't call these people. Terrible experience.

It was just a bad mix of events because my heater went completely out  and there were below zero temperatures. They were not able to get, like, a space heater to help me and they had to order the part, so it was over a week without anything. They said they would refund the service charge, but then they didn't. The quality was okay, but I don't know because there were so many different aspects of it. To make the experience better for me they could have either gotten the space heaters or refunded the service charge after they said they would or they could have gotten the part in sooner, I guess, even if it was a higher cost. .

Something about them coming back for a follow up that we had to call and schedule with them that we shouldn't have.

This is a "horrible, unsafe dangerous? company! I would recommend to any potential customers to avoid Robert?s Heating and Air at all cost..! Robert's Heating and Air was once a good/quality company before it was sold a couple of years ago.  A handful of the older company employees left (including the past owner who worked for the present company owner) and new employees were hired into the new company.  Yet these new employee?s don?t & didn?t know how to install things properly and or safely at my home!

The new Robert's Heating and Air sold me a gas furnace and house air conditioner for around $10,000 dollars and had to return back to my home "Numerous Times?( after their 1st installment attempts)  to try and fix things/issue?s with problems of installment's that they caused to happen. The improper installment of both these 2 items (one or the other) put my family and home in "DANGER" of possible overheating damage  to my home and things within it (and or fire?), water damage, gas and air venting issues, possible property damage of the new products I just purchased from them as well as possible electrical problems all because things weren't fully and properly installed correctly and safely. This was and is "FULLY" unacceptable in every way..!

The city of Ft. Collins Inspections Office even failed Robert's Heating and Air on their installment and wouldn't give my home a passing of safety until things were fixed correctly and properly. So a Robert's employee was given a hand written list by me from the City of Ft. Collins of what needs to be done and fixed correctly, and Robert's still failed after this. This happened a couple of times over with hand written lists of what needs to be done in order to make things work properly and safely.  Eventually a new and totally different company has been called into finish the job correctly in which Robert?s Heating and Air couldn?t do.

Again, people havening to return to my home to try (but never did) fix things properly and in a correctful manner happen Numerous times, a total of around 6 times. No one was able to start and finish the 2 jobs properly and safely the 1st time over, and that?s very ?Scary? let alone unprofessional (Don?t you think?).

So If you want to have something done properly and "SAFELY" to your A/C or heating system "STAY AWAY" from Robert's heating and Air or you may regret in not doing so..... Though I would like to give a positive complement to Robert?s Heating Air front desk employees- ?They are very professional, pleasant and sympathetic people who are good at their jobs?!

Peace to ALL?..!

I used to highly recommend Robert's Heating & Air, Inc. I routinely used them for issues with my furnace and purchased a water heater from them on 4/30/12. I called them at the beginning of January 2013 because we had been experiencing some problems with not having a lot of hot water and if we did, it generally only lasted for one person showering. My phone interaction was different from any I had previously had. The number one concern with the receptionist was with how I was going to pay and she wanted to make sure I was going to pay in full. I have never missed a payment and always pay in full at the time of service. I found out that Robert's had been sold and had new ownership and new policies. No matter. A technician was sent out. He told me I needed new heating elements and this was not under warranty and it would be $636. I said okay, if that was what it would take to have hot water. I never have paid for a service before receiving it, but did in hopes of getting a fully functioning water heater. Another new policy perhaps. I paid and waited until 1/15/14 for the part to come in. The new heating elements clearly did not fix the problem. It still was not working right. I called and another technician was sent out. He told me it was under warranty. This was new because the first technician told me the heater was not under warranty which is why I had to pay $636 for the new heating elements. The second technician was the service manager and he reset all the electricals inside the unit. The unit was still not working properly. I called Robert's back. I was told the owner also owned Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and that they would send out a plumber who had more training than the Robert's technicians. The plumber came and told me the Robert's technicians don't really know what they are doing (I thought that was interesting given they all have the same owner) and after examination he told me the heating elements were fine and the problem was actually that the mixing valve was failing. He gave me three scenarios with three price tags ranging from $525 to $2,176. I called in another plumber from another company to get another opinion. He said it was a mixing valve problem and then he told me the water heater and heating elements should have been under warranty. I called the manufacturer and was told by Bradford White that the water heater was under warranty for 6 years and this includes the heating elements. I asked if the owner would've known this given they specialize in water heaters. She said it was standard for the companies to send in the faulty heating elements which then the manufacturer would replace at no cost to the customer because they were under warranty. Robert's told me they were not under warranty and charged me $636 for them. Frustrating that this was not even the problem and I apparently should not have had to pay for them, according to the manufacturer, Bradford White. I had the mixing valve replaced by our solar water heating person for under $70 and the problem was fixed. I tried calling Robert's to speak with the owner explaining that I believed I should be reimbursed for the $636 I spent on the heating elements when they should've been covered by the manufacturer's warranty and because this was an incorrect diagnosis made by the Robert's technician. The receptionist assured me I'd get a return call from the owner. I never did. I believe Robert's used to be an awesome company, but with the new ownership, this is no longer the case.

They were responsive and they did a really good job. We had them come back out because it looked like some of the resistors looked dirty after they were there and they came back out immediately.

Our furnace is 11 years old and had been making a funny noise. The repairman was prompt and really nice, pointed out what was making the noise, tightened it and told us everything else was okay for now - didn't try to upsell or convince me to buy anything I didn't need. I would most definitely hire them again!

I have worked with Roberts HVAC on 2 separate occasions now and love them. I would not work with anyone else. They are prompt very clear with providing information and details that I need to make my own decisions about what actions to take without pressuring me. I really like how creative they were with the options they presented for my various projects.

Great experience! We had already had 2 previous estimates, and Robert's was lower than both of them by at least $1000. Robert did the estimate himself, and was very knowledgeable and pleasant. I got his estimate on a Tuesday and had my unit installed in a few days, by another gentleman who was also very pleasant. I highly recommend using this company!

Installation went well. Furnace seems efficient, certainly quieter than the old furnace. After the installation Roberts said a city inspector would be out to perform an inspection within a month or two, and they, Roberts, would file paperwork to get us a rebate from our gas company. After 2+ months, both the city and gas company were called to get the status of the inspection and the rebate. Turns out Roberts had not purchased a permit from the city, nor had they contacted the gas company. I filed for the rebate from the gas company and eventually Roberts purchased the required city permit and a city inspector performed an inspection.

The HVAC tech who came to our home was Dean. He found the problem with our air conditioner and had it repaired within an hour. He was polite and efficient. We ended up signing a service agreement with Robert's to help prevent a similar problem in the future. That agreement allows discounts on future service as well as annual maintenance. FYI - Not Related to Robert's: Buckhorn Heating and Air Conditioning as listed on Angie's List is disconnected. Also, Air Waves Heat and AC returned our call much later, saying they hadn't received the message sooner.

After moving to our new home, I scheduled an appointment for cleaning of a whole house air conditioner. Upon inspection I was told that the unit was way to large for the size of the house. It should have been vented throughout the house and was only vented into two bedrooms. It would not function properly. It was advised that I have it removed. I decided that what they said really made sense given it sounded like an airplane taking off when I turned it on! The price was reasonable, the workers prompt, careful, and nice.

What set Robert's Heating and Air apart was that the owner came and made the quote and also spent the extra time and effort to look at the entire heating system for the home and make additional recommendations to improve the function and comfort of the heating system. These additional modifications were included in the quote. He also performed a manual computer J Load Calculation and provided that to us. The service was scheduled and completed on time. The work crew did an excellent job and was very clean and professional. The owner was present at the start of the installation work and specifically went over any special needs or challenges with the work crew. The furnace works terrific, is very quiet, and the home is more comfortable. Was perhaps the best home repair/service experience that we have had in the 15 years of living here. Extremely satisfied.

We're really happy with the work that was done. The price was on par with the two other quotes we got, but the systems we bought were better than what the other contractors offered. Also, Mike was better informed and willing to take the time to explain things to us. We did have one issue with a broken valve, but the installer recognized the problem, and a new part was installed free of charge, of course.
