"Gary, the master plumber who came to our home and gave us an estimate and did the repair work was personable, friendly, professional, and very thorough. He was the main reason we went with Rooter Guy. They were the most expensive of the quotes we received ( we had 4 estimates). The solutions Gary provided were the least intrusive to our plumbing disaster. The work they completed is wonderful and we feel very confident the repair will last for a very long time! The day of the repair job they communicated well and cleaned up everything perfectly. I could not be happier with the work - just wished the job was a little less pricey. "The service was great. They were experienced plumbers and knew what they were doing. They replaced 2 water heaters. The cost was reasonable and less than other companies quotes I was given on line and over the phone. Pipes are connected in a bathroom by a 3/4-inch to 1-inch line running from your water meter into your home. The line then splits, with the hot water line going to your water heater and the cold water line running into your home. The cold water line leads to the 1/2-inch water supply lines for your home’s toilet, tub, and sink. The hot water line runs from the water heater to all sinks and baths.

You can stop a leak with plumber’s tape, but it’s not a recommended way to repair a leak. To install it, you have to dismantle the plumbing connection, apply plumber’s tape, and then re-install the pieces. 

There are better options for a temporary fix for leaking pipes, such as repair sleeves, epoxy compounds, or pipe clamps.

It’s a good idea to drain your pipes to prevent them from freezing if you’re expecting extremely cold temperatures or planning to be away from your home for an extended period of time during the winter. You may be able to avoid draining your pipes if you insulate outdoor pipes and keep your home heated to a minimum temperature of 55 degrees.
